It was ok but not great. The incentive to level yourself higher is not existant because theres nothing to do afterwards.

I'd give it a 6 just because it was ok with friends but its just not interesting after a playthrough or two.

You'll try another class thinking you'll have more fun but will find out its just as slow and boring as the others.

What game is the best of this genre?

I played Path of Exile and Grim Dawn and I want more. Something complex.

It's a lot of fun to play through, interesting story. Dual class system allows for a huge variety of builds but obviously a few min/max choices are best for DPS/end game clears.

speaking of, end game content is pretty lack luster but I don't really play ARPGs for that (yes I understand thats a major appeal)

Also devs are releasing some DLC soon and continually add content/update the game. A lot of love from them.

PoE blows the competition away in every possible regard except soundtrack and pvp. Atmosphere, content, complexity, economy, originality, lore, visuals, loot generation, crafting, price, updates, ladders, endgame, etc. Now that they got rid of difficulties and introduced 6 new acts it's outrighr unfair to compare it to other games.

Grim Dawn is alright, though combat really lacks feedback and there's no ladder or real economy, it also used to be really badly optimized.

I don't think it's great, it just kind of feels sub-par to me. There isn't a lot of enemy or location variety, I didn't care about the story/world and the gameplay was just kind of standard fare for ARPGs. I've only played through it because my friends wanted me to but I probably wouldn't play it willingly just by myself.

It's literally Titan Quest 1 and a half. I'm reluctant to say it's a sequel, because it doesn't really change much and even runs on the same engine.

But for some reason i cant get into the story, it really seems boring and it drags on for too long as well. I quit after the 2nd act because this game just goes on and on and on

I hate how in path of exile I cant be anything but "scavenger with totems", theres no class identity or anything of the sort, even when you start getting non shipwreck gear it just goes over your rags your character wears so you never look like anything but a castaway

It's not bad. Modern ARPG hierarchy is roughly D3>POE>Grim Dawn>Torchlight 2>The shit that plops out of Soldak's ass every few years.

There's wiggle room depending on how harsh your autism is but that's the long and short of it. Diablo 3's the best for casual clicking and having a good time as it has the best feeling combat of all of them and you never fucking trade items and constantly are finding new items that are usually incremental upgrades but at least you're interacting with items.

POE is for D2 players that never moved on and are clinging to a similar but worse game. You'll never find any items you want, you're forced to trade with sweatshop chinamen if you want to git gud, and you'll spend hours collecting life nodes. Has the most depth in build variety although basically every build ends up being spam your single attack skill unless there's a boss and then you might drink a potion and use an additional buffing skill.

Grim Dawn's kind of in between D3 and POE. Combat and loot's better than POE, build variety's better than D3. Arguably the biggest crime Grim Dawn commits is a single playthrough lasts too long. They needed to reduce the time you spend in each area by a third so you see new locations and new enemies faster and then replay on higher difficulty. Instead they padded it out so by the end of normal you'll want to uninstall and forget you ever played it.

Torchlight 2 is baby simple. It's fine. You click on things.

Soldak's game gets renamed every few years, and it has a couple cool ideas but the sounds are horrific, the graphics are plain, and the character builds are dull as hell.
