Which of the original maps is your favorite? For me it's a close call between Gravelpit and Hydro. Both have great visual style.

CTF_Turbine is the best map PERIOD
There have been more games played that last 2-3 hours and have had both teams grinding nasty for that last capture
>>
>>386991170
Hyro isn't Original is it?
I'd say Gravelpit

Without a doubt Dustbowl. Nothing but choke points, but man does it feel great when you either push through.
>>
gpit
>>
>>386991170
Great visual style, and both are complete shit to play.
>>
2fort
>>
>>386991170
Hard to say, I'm fond of all of them since I played a lot on 360. Probably Well.
>>
>>386991431
> both

Gravelpit probably holds up the best of the original maps, what are you talking about.
>>
>>386991170
Granary is the only decent one, but only after all of its changes
>>
>>386992009
I disagree. I don't really like the disparity in design between Point A and B. A being neigh indefensible and B being much more easily defended. Granary would be better overall.
>>
>>386991360
Hydro is so original the commentary takes place on it.
>>
>>386991359
CTF is inherently shit
>>
>>386991170

i feel you on gravel pit. Looks good and plays great. I also still love dustbowl. i know its choke point city, but i still love it.
>>
>>386992295
Gravelpit A is only lost easily because people buy into the "indefensible" line and give up on it really easily, I've played games where BLU wasn't able to make a dent in A.
>>
>>386991170
Gravelpit is my favorite Original. After the Originals I would have to say Viaduct because I always have a soft spot for snow levels. The community 'balanced' Viaduct makes me cry because grass
>>
I unironically like Dustbowl.
>>
>>386992886
They also did that snowless shit in Barnblitz update too. It sucks.
>>
>>386992660
I mean, on a pub server pretty easy to do anything if you whip your retards into shape over the other retards on the enemy team. Just have a medic, there you go.

>0 - 2
>RED has our intel all the way to their lower hallway before the carrier dies
>the entirety of BLU runs over and sets up on it
>our Scouts manage to cap 3 times just as our intel despawns

Turbine has issues but it makes for some fun asspull wins.
>>
>>386993064
I'd say the worst part is that they don't update the color pallet. I can't shake the feeling that something is missing when I play either of those maps. The grass is just too unnatural.
>>
>>386991170

New here, why does everyone hate hydro? I played tf2 since 2011 and never played it a single time
>>
>>386992936
Even though I recognize it as a poorly designed map, me too, I had a lot of great games there
>>
>>386991359
No ctf map is great.
As an engi main, all I have to do is sit in intel room and wait. I dont have to change positions, and using teleporters to do anything useful is rare so I don't have to bother with teleporters.
Even if I screw-up and someone gets the intel they're still probably just going to get a step outside our base and die.
Matches can drag on for hours potentially, and often when someone wins it isn't a tense climax, instead it's more of a "oh, didn't notice that".

I played a lot of TF2 on the 360 so I can confidently say that any console TF2 player's problem with Hydro is that they just haven't played it. Hydro WILL crash on consoles. Consoles aside there is STILL a bug where entrances do not properly spawn. Part of Hydro's supposed replayability was that the map would change by making different hallways and entrances to the different points. That feature is still bugged in the current modern build. Try for yourself.

Bugs aside Hydro WILL stalemate. There is no way around it; there is no short game of Hydro ever heard of in the history of TF2. You thought Dustbowl had hilarious choke points? Check Hydro. They are even more hilarious.

tl;dr broken beyond playable
>>
What the fuck, ever since the launch of TF2 I've never heard of anyone ever playing a full game on any section of Hydro
>>386991170
I don't even recognize what area of the map this is, nobody plays Hydro except to look at it and it does look very nice, I can't deny.
>>
>>386994070
I played a game of it in casual the other week that went by really quickly, although just about everyone in my team got the achievement for winning a fast round or something to that effect, so I imagine the speed was from half the players just being too lost to even set up defenses.
>>
2fort because it's one of those maps where only half the people in the server are playing. The rest of the team is doing shit like friendly hoovy, engineer party in Intel room, or fucking around in spawn.
>>
>>386991170

Visually I love hydro, but gameplay wise it's absolutely terrible, matches always went one of two ways, complete stalemate or one team rolls the other, there was very rarely an in between.

One of my favorite maps in terms of gameplay is Steel, there's a lot of ways to attack points and get around the map, it has a nice progression for the attacking team as you get points, matches aren't usually dragged out too long in comparison to dustbowl. It's a great map and I wished more people played it. Another map that I liked and that I hardly play o rsee anyone else play is pl_frontier, only real issue I have with that map is that the last point is way too big.
>>
>>386994387
Yeah. When everyone knows the map and what to do Hydro is stale mate city. Take Satellite Dish attacking Stairs. Two wide open spaces connected by two tiny corridors. It gets quite silly quite fast.
>>
What do you guys think about the FAN and the Soda Popper?
>>
>>386991170
Hydro is pathetic compared to it's TFC incarnation.
>>
>>386991170

Dustbowl has always been my favourite. Granary is a close second.

I really like 2fort. It's been in the game forever, and it just is so much fun to play sniper and have wars with the other side. It's also a lot of fun to sneak into the enemy intel and build a nest in there.
>>
Granary or Gravelpit. Granary has the simple-but-fun design that all great maps have, and its aesthetic is surprisingly comfy. And I've had a ton of boring games on Gravelpit but I've also had some of my most fun.
>>
>>386991170
hard choice between 2Fort and Dustbowl.

This. Still no other map gives me the sense of accomplishment of actually pushing through to the last point on stage 2
>>
Did they ever update MVM to be less of a laginduced zergfest?
>>
>>386991170
cp_well
The teleporter plays you can make on that map, good god.
>>
A lot of the old maps are odd in that they're pretty badly designed but are huge fun nonetheless. 2fort, dustbowl, hydro and (to a lesser extent) goldrush are all full of chokepoints, don't allow for much tactical play beyond the usual spy shenanigans, and all often are either complete steamrolls or unending stalemates. But for me, and for others I've spoken to, some of the most fun games of TF2 were had in them
>>
Does Frontier Justice work with mini sentry?
>>
>>386993520
On top of what the others said about chokepoints, when a team gets pushed to the last map, there is no capture point for the defenders to take to end the round early, their only option is to defend for like 15 minutes.
And that's awful.
>>
>>386999529
absolutely
>>
>>386997152
>It's also a lot of fun to sneak into the enemy intel and build a nest in there.
my nigga
>setup a teleporter and dispenser in that little area in front of the spawn by the door to the stairway
>eureka or run back before they notice
>bring over sentry
>10-20 kills before they rally together and destroy it
>or they never destroy it if your team supports you
>>
>>386999529
Yes, but mini-sentries suck shit at killing though, you'd be better off using the Jag and plopping up level ones here and there
>>
They were all fun imo, but 2fort embodies the tf2 aesthetics of late 60s incredibles-esque art style and themes of corporate espionage and red vs blue the best. And it was one of the more fun ones to play.
>>
>>386996952
Hydro is original. Turbine isnt. The fucking dev commentary takes place on hydro.
