While waiting for Sonic Mania, I've read the previous threads and I'm trying to find Infinite's identity.

I'll start with the theory that Infinity is possibly Tails (from Sonic 2 Game Gear bad ending). Sonic couldn't save Tails back then and so Eggman made some experiments on him with the Gem from Sonic Mania.

So Infinite is surely from another dimension which would explain:
-the atmosphere around his body
-Chaos' glitches in the trailer
-Shadow's weird eyes
This may just be Heavy Robots illusion or whatever tho.

Classic Tails (from Game gear version) thinks that Sonic abandonned him (1).
Eggman changed him to Infinite (2).
Infinite lost some of his memories (Eggman brainwashed him) but still has some hatred for Sonic and the World (3) (4).

In the trailer, Infinite calls Sonic: "The little Blue saviour". There is a part of Irony here because Sonic actually didn't save him but the world instead. Infinite doesn't like Sonic but at the same time feels something special (Friendship's memories?).

I'd like to think its due to leakers sucking complete ass, but it seemed many of the bosses were just time sinks compared to how older games would let Sonic tear through them. Even the true Final Boss is a shitshow that boils down to "HAHA! SONIC! YOU CAN'T HAVE THIS!" with both bosses just floating in a static arena with keep away arms and shields. After having S3 introduce us to Big Arm, which was so Anti-Sonic that it could even harm Super Sonic, it just seems like a big let down to see a final boss that's bad even by fangame standards, let alone something even the Advance games would scoff at.

Other bosses are mostly just gimmicks that make the fights take longer than they should, with some nice ones scattered about.

I'm still going to get it, but now I don't know if I'll nab it on Switch or just wait to pirate the PC version and wait for the inevitable Switch sale when Forces comes out, as Sega is great about marking down their games on Nintendo consoles.
