Watch. They'll post a side by side of Mario Odessa (forest world) and sonic mania and say "how can they ever recover, did sonic finally win)
This is the most anticipated game of eh year, so it's gonna attract only the dirtiest and shameless of shit posters. I'm talking Almond White levels of shit opinion.

can you just keep doing that
between this and no fall damage i really dont understand some of the choices they made here
>>386978956
Jesus this game looks like hot garbage compared to Sunshine/Galaxy/Galaxy 2
>>386978995
Watching them become increasingly desperate as the Switch continues to smash the Wii U 2.0 narrative has been quite amusing so far. I wonder how long the delusions will continue.
>>386978956
Looks like shite.
Where is 3/4th of the level? This is supposed to be a Mario level? Is nu-Nintendo fucking kidding?
Did they fire the level designers right while they were putting the level together?
>>386979103
second dive he clearly hits the hat and doesn't bounce, seems like the limit
>>386979165
Wii U at least had tons of actual exclusives and the games weren't looking unfinished.
Wait, half-assed.
Wait, what the fuck is that mario video.
nu-Nintendo is now copying Kojimnigger?

Looks like a mash-up of sandbox levels with 3D World esque levels shoehorned in.
If that platforming was more organic, I'd be a lot less wary

I don't remember SMG2 getting so much shitposting. What the fuck happened?
/v/ will shit-post about Mario Odyssey every single day until release and then get hilariously BTFO just like they did with Breath Of The Wild. And then spend the next year in salty denial as they try and make sense of their humiliation.
When will you ever learn?
>>386979261
What you're missing is that this section is supposed to be accompanied by a huge moving platform.
The player is skipping that altogether with very careful use of the cap.
>>386980489
>/v/ will shit-post about <insert game here>
Honestly, this board flings shit at every remotely successful game that isn't some flavor of Souls.

64 and Sunshine both had "platforms suspended in the air" levels you fucking retard. Sunshine in particular let you cheese the fuck out of most of the actual platforming with FLUDD as well
>>386981267
So Super Mario 64?
>>386977231
Not really. If anything I'd say it's blurring the line between the linear and nonlinear games, contrary to what they said. That's not to say that's a good or bad thing, but it's noticeable that there's a mix of both here.
>>386981267
>You can use power ups from other levels to make difficult levels easier
Wow, Mario games have NEVER done this before!
you retarded shitposters are going to play it anyways
Super Mario 3D World was great you try hard faggots
>>386980074
These are all accurate statements. Additionally, 3D World and SMBU are better than your favorite 3D and 2D Mario games, respectively.

Pretty much all of these shitposters don't even have a Switch, you realize that right?
>>386979994

Fucking 3D Land is better than 3D World. Just because it's on the Wii U doesn't give it bonus points. It's the weakest 3D Mario by far.
>>386981801

Anyone who doesn't choose the """"risky""" jumps is a retard, or a girl
>>386982414
There's no criticism in this thread though. It's just one guy posting a webm without any context. If you want my criticisms, I think that moons won't be as satisfying to collect as stars or shines, since they're all over the place, but I'm still excited for the game big time.
>>386978956
not defending this or nintenbros but weren't there stages just like this in sunshine?
>Mario Oddysey started getting shitposted to hell just coincidentaly after Crash Trilogy got an 80 on Metacritic
Really makes you think, doesn't it?
>>386983046
Considering Sunshine has the worst levels of any Mario game are you not seeing the problem?
>>386983232
That's pretty subjective.

>>386983603
I don't see the problem with these besides lily pads, watermelons, and ricco episode 8
>>386983603
None of those levels are similar to what the webm looks like though. Thanks for giving me vietnam flashbacks to the lowest points of Sunshine though.
>>386983046
Every 3d Mario since 64 has had liniar platforming levels.
>>386978956
Im sorry but what exactly am i supposed to be BTFO'D by this wemb? No, really?
Is this really the best you guys can do against this game? I mean Zelda at least had that webm of all the trees popping in.
>>386982451
>it's just three moons together
what a joke
>>386983896
They have fuck all to do with platforming, why the fuck is a Mario game with the snappiest movement wasting my time with garbage like running around cleaning a beach or cleaning an eel's teeth? Why is it in a level where I have FLUDD taken away is my only way to proceed through lining myself up with Piantas opposed to actual platforming?
If Sunshine didn't have bing bing wahoo man in it it wouldn't get higher than a 7/10.
>>386984365
Theyre bigger and they have a crown. What else is necessary to classify as "grand"
Again, you guys are really reaching here. Zelda had way more efficent shitposting prior to release. You really are slacking.
>>386984456
Variety. Also some of the things you chose are only part of a level, where the other part happens to be platforming.
>>386984456
Youre an idiot if you think sunshine doesnt have platforming. And its my least favorite 3D mario.
Just becasue you're not jumping every 2 seconds like you do in the 2D gmaes doesnt mean theres no platforming.
>>386984365
Almost like it's just a reward for story progression since all you really need is Moons to advance to more worlds
>>386979582
/v/ is going to kill wojak just like /pol/ and /r9k/ killed pepe
>>386984885
What is this even trying to say?
>>386984885
There's also a Sphinx in the Sand Kingdom behind the main ruins/tower
>>386984456
You act like 64 didn't also have stars with barely any platforming involved too
>>386984646
>Variety.
Is there something stopping them from having varied platforming? Once again running around a beach spraying goop has zero business being in a platformer. Both the Galaxy games had a ton of variety yet all that variety was contextualized in platforming of some sort whether it was the levels where each time you jumped a different color block would disappear or the levels where you had to go through areas where gravity would shift it was grounded in platforming. Sunshine has almost none of that aside from the levels where they take FLUDD away. A lot of the levels also lack any sort of verticality that was done so well in 64, take Gelato for example: You have three horizontal areas with little in the way of any skillful platforming to mess around in, Noki Bay is pretty good in this regard but it's an outlier.
Once again, Sunshine would not have gotten above a 7/10 if it weren't for bing bing wahoo man. I haven't even covered the blatant unfinished nature of the game with half the levels of 64 and 20 of the Shines being gated behind cryptic blue coins. It's a game that has outstanding movement but that's about it.
>>386984990
wew fucking lad
>>386984893
I never said there was not platforming, I'm saying there's not enough.
Why do white boys complain about video games so much?
>>386985056
Wow so much verticality.
>>386985032
There's a lot entrances to linear, Galaxy-esque platforming sections. Some more hidden than others. There's even more so the image needs to be updated.
>>386985045
Just a Sphinx or another Sphinx obstacle course besides the one pictured?
>>386985056
>Both the Galaxy games had a ton of variety yet all that variety was contextualized in platforming
I agree with this, but I also don't think Sunshine had the worst levels in the series, I think that title goes to 3D World. Galaxy 1 and 2 are my favorites.
>A lot of the levels also lack any sort of verticality that was done so well in 64, take Gelato for example: You have three horizontal areas with little in the way of any skillful platforming to mess around in, Noki Bay is pretty good in this regard but it's an outlier.
This is pretty cherry-picked though. Bianco Hills, Pinna Park, and Ricco Harbor all have verticality.
> I haven't even covered the blatant unfinished nature of the game with half the levels of 64 and 20 of the Shines being gated behind cryptic blue coins.
I can agree with this too, it's pretty obvious Sunshine was rushed.
>>386985603
cool cherrypicking
>>386985603
Is that level trying to be a sandbox level? No. It's a more linear tightly focused stage focused on platforming, the equivalent would the be FLUDless stages in Sunshine which are the only good parts of the game might I add.
Something like Whomp's Fortress has a ton of verticality which the player can use to come up with various shortcuts to navigate the level, Sunshine is severely lacking in something like this outside of one or two of the stages and Sunshine already has incredibly limited stage variety to begin with.
>>386985603
that is the only flat map in the game. look at ttc
>>386985735
Not sure, it was in a Treehouse video during E3 but none of the people who played the demo have checked it out
>>386985897
>Bianco Hills, Pinna Park, and Ricco Harbor all have verticality.
Ricco and Pinna, yes but I can't say I agree with Bianco Hills since I find it kind of lacking. The left side of the stage that has the houses and what not is pretty good but the right half is pretty void of anything really: there's the tight ropes, the lake and the windmill but none of these are ever really connected to one another through platforming. They all feel like their own separate entities on the course.
>>386985897
I can hardly handle all this platforming
>>386981137
Then that just proves how dumb you are.
>>386986107
more cherrypicking. water levels make up less than 10 percent of the game
>>386986025
Tick Tock Clock is a completely shit level though.
>>386986345
???
>>386986368

>>386986345
2 verticality 4 me
>/v/ shitposts hard
>the instant the comparisons to Sunshine and 64 come in they start shitting themselves
>>386986487
Lots of verticality to it though which opens up a lot of routes, I'm >>386985056 and I will admit that I prefer the SMB3 and Galaxy games to 64 for the most part but the point I was making was that Sunshine is inferior to 64 in all ways aside from movement.
>>386986487
no water in the image. what are you trying to say?
>>386986507
ttc is the best level in the game
>>386986576

>>386986698
I think the ice looks fine but the sand looks like shit
this is what happens when you try to meme sunshine as a good game. pretend to be retarded and before you know it, you're surrounded by real retards
>>386986671
Look familia, even in galaxy there are parts where you're just walking across the level. Like i saide, Just because youre not jumping 24/7 doesnt make it any less of a platformer.
>>386986554
You still havent even given an argument. What are you saying?
>>386986554
>one tiny section that isn't even required to access a small area with one moon and some purple coins somehow ruins the entire expansive desert level
hello?
>>386986681
The only verticality in HMC is taking elevators, it's pretty much hallways: the level
Why are people shitposting by outright lying these days? At least nitpick something that can't be proven wrong by actually checking the footage.
>>386986681
>ttc is the best level in the game
Verticality =/= good.
It's a pain in the ass to go through unless you turn off the level's gimmick, and one small mistake pretty much sends you to the bottom or into the pit.
What? How did you come to that conclusion? Everything shown so far has been very 64-ish.
I wonder if people would still shit on this game if it was a multiplat.
>>386986995
soon
>>386986760
But the Galaxy games are far more concentrated on platforming and their level variety revolves around platforming as a whole. The point of my post was never to imply Sunshine isn't a platformer, in fact I never said that, but a lot of the levels are things that just shouldn't be in a platformer in my opinion. I know I've brought it up three times already but cleaning Sirena Beach is absolute garbage and has zero business being in a game about platforming and I could say that for a lot of Sunshine's levels.
>>386986743
the mechanic of when you enter the stage that determines if the parts are moving is great. it basically gives two stages in one and you can figure out if it is better to get certain stars while moving or while it is stationary. also the verticality really matches the theme of the level. it is tall just like a clock tower which is what you have to enter the stage from. it is a unique level to the game because the sky box is entirely closed off and once you know the level there are plenty of shortcuts to take which increases replayability.
>>386986893
the difficulty level is great for a late game stage. you should be good at the game by the time you get there. I explained why I like the moving parts mechanism above
