Not even bullshitting, animals had the ability to call cops on you. I don't know whether it's a design oversight where they accidentally gave that ability to all NPC entities or what, but there's a few mods that disables that shit. Birds, wolves, fucking cats could call the police on you faster than humans can since they bypass the cellphone animation.

The cops in 5 not only are aware of you killing a person in the middle of no where with a silenced pistol and nobody around, but they also don't have any bounds to the proximity of their search for you and just constantly respawn x amount of distance away from you until you find somewhere ridiculous to hide.

They're not lazy when designing the base game. Never have been. Their games are full of so much detail and so much content, to say they're lazy is just objectively wrong.

They're full of detail and yet the base mechanics that are constant through the game like the wanted system is fucking garbage. Yeah they make super detailed open worlds and add special fully animated fully interactive modes for every mission on an individual level which is cool, yeah they have lots of TECHNOLOGY moments in them, but they botched the fucking wanted system which is the single most frequent element of the game that any player gets to interact with. And they're still patching the game, YEARS after release, but they NEVER did ANYTHING to fix the wanted system.

Useless gun selection doesn't help either. By the time you get all guns each gun category has most of its guns be blatantly inferior to the top tier weapons, but you can't drop those guns, and the game always defaults into giving you the first-unlocked (shittiest) gun every time. These are the the most basic parts of the game. How did they gloss over THAT while adding fancy barely noticeable 3D grass that interacts with your footsteps all over Los Santos?

Fuck Rockstar, honestly. I maintain that they are lazy and do not give a fuck. This also shows in the multiplayer of GTAV, still plagued with problems that haven't been fixed, and they just keep releasing content packs that you either have to grind your fingers off, hack money, or buy shark cards to afford. No expansion pack like they did for GTA4. You know, the expansion packs that actually improved on all the base game's shortcomings. Rockstar isn't interested in that with GTAV.

To be fair I'd rather have them focus all resources on GTA6 from the start rather than faff around with expansion packs for the previous iteration.
