The difference in cooling is usually negligible--idle temps might be higher than one another, but generally speaking, the fans are always going to ramp up with us. Don't forget--they were literally design with either placement in mind.

PS4 Slim literally cooks its HDD in vertical mode (drive logged peak temperatures of 62C), while in horizontal mode it stays reasonably cool.

It's a basic power connector all other PlayStation's use. Except for the pro which uses the same plug as the wall plug end half of the Xbox 360 power cord.

Bottom line, one way or another, all consoles will eventually cook themselves to death because they don't have longevity in mind.

If you want something that's legitimately not cheap, in both sense of the word, build a PC.
