I can't stand the legit cancer that is the FG and MOBA communities, burned myself out on all RTS subgenres as a kid, but still play casual FPSes as my normie friends still play them. The only genres I can't seem to burn out on is space sim/trading and MMOs. Have to have a good community in the latter to make comfy chilling worth it.

The only competition I care about is against myself. I play games with score counters and look to use those metrics for how I improve with the time I spend playing a game.

Playing against other people isn't for me. I'll never be the world's #1 player at anything, and nobody cares about losers.

Your post nailed a lo of why /v/ hates competitive games, and It's because they suck. If they could wake up tomorrow and become masters of vidya competition, they'd laugh at all the others who suck. /v/ is trash at comp games. That being said, competitive games aren't the be all end all and some people don't care to invest time, practice, and studying to git gud.

Competitive games are only fun when you have friends you can coordinate and work together with. When you're with a bunch of random assholes, everybody tries to Rambo the other team and nobody ever tries to complete any objective besides get as many kills as possible. And since /v/ has no friends....

If you want to talk strats you go to a vg general. And I don't care about board favouritism, v is a gambling board, you go in a thread with shiny op image and you hope to find some neato lore dump, so insider info (usually obviously just a marketer, but still nice nevertheless) or a porn dump.

Everything else is a shitpost, this whole place is one big shitpost. That isn't all that bad, I personally like to come by and see what's new but only teenager and the odd manchild call this their main board, mainly to feel like they are tough enough to handle getting into arguments over the internet for 8 hours a day.

Also it's a fact that nobody here actually plays video games.

Video games are about fun.

I already compete in the real world.
