Had no idea there was a little room behind this lavafall (?) in dodongo's cavern
What, no. Prove it.
I saw a gif on here the other day of Thwomp's Fortress on SM64 and you punch a panel at the bottom of the tower and there's a 1Up. Never knew that. Played through that game no less than 15 times, and never knew.
>>386940207
you can catch a Mew right after the nugget bridge in Pokemon Red/Blue/Green/Yellow
>>386940207
Similar to this, at the top of the Ganon's castle, right before the final stairs that lead to the end boss, there's a wall you can explode and find a room full of fairies and merchant Dekus that will sell you gear.
>>386940541
I thought that was between two of the laser beam rooms behind a fake wall.
In Crash 2, you can spin away the logs those gorillas throw on the ruin levels and the shrink rays in the space station levels.
I had no idea you could get the triforce in oot if you followed some simple steps
>>386940625
It is, not sure what he is talking about exploding a wall.
>>386940786
>the Running Man had it the whole time
What the fuck, Nintendo.
>>386940541
Reminds me there's a Sheikah Stone behind the Deku Tree.
It just regurgitates the same lines a s other stones though.
>>386940964
When I first played OoT as a kid those stone were so mysterious to me. I wish there was more to them.
>>386940786
can not believe i fell for this photoshop it is the shittest thing in the world
The pencil stash Chao was a pretty cool secret.
>Bomberman 64 has an alternate ending/boss if you collect all the gold cards. I had rented the game and assumed the cliffhanger would be resolved in a sequel.
>Bomberman Hero has several bonus levels that you can only access from the title screen with a turbo controller.
The special moves in super metroid (I never let the demo reel play where they are shown)
Never knew about the sword at "A" until I picked up a guide for a 100% treasure run. There are more treasures in weird locations, but this one is actually pretty valuable at this point in the game. I always pick it up now.
>>386940786
Shut up Kotake you fraud.Holy fucking hell does that take me back.
>>386940419
Posting that gif for you, I didn't know about it for years myself.
>>386941214
>be me in the 90s
>borrow this game from a friend
>autistically collect all the gold cards
>be surprised when it unlocks an entire new world
>beat it all and get the real ending
>tell my friend about how there's a secret world where the guy from the tutorial is the real last boss
>he doesn't believe me, had to bring my memory card to his place to prove it
Never knew that this was a thing if it wasn't for the cartoon series.
>>386940207
you can go into dodongo's cavern as adult Link?

wut
In Mario and Luigi Super Star Saga, I didn't know you could get coins by hitting Luigi in the balls, if you shrink Mario and then jump with Mario as Luigi attempts to do a high jump.
>>386941504
I've played Super Metroid several times and watched several playthroughs, but I never knew about the power bomb + beam combos until earlier this year.
>>386945863
i just went and checked in OoT3D
it's fucking real
Mario 3 coin ship

>>386940207
You can jump higher in mario 64 by moving forward and timing your jumps 3 times
>>386945863
>boot up my n64 oot
>mfw its real
>>386943002
That's it! Crazy. Make sme think of all the other secrets I never found in countless other games I'm familiar with.
>>386947624
Also it's trivial as fuck, but Seamus hits full sprint speed a few frames faster if you move forward and then press the run button, instead of holding the run button and then moving left or right. This knowledge is vital for a no grapple beam run but is otherwise completely useless.
>>386945421
I remember finding this out on accident and thinking it was pretty cool, I think you just hit two buttons at the same time.
In Doom 2's MAP08, you can skip the final run across the falling pillars by stepping onto the first on and stepping back off. A teleporter will lower in the wall of the north room (the one with all the Cacodemons) that teleports you right in front of the exit.
>>386940964
>Reminds me there's a Sheikah Stone behind the Deku Tree
That Stone told me that there is a giant button somewhere in the game that will unlock a secret.
>>386940470
Wasn't that through a glitch exploit?
>>386940419
Saw it in a N64 magazine back in 97, but would probably never find it on my own. I miss little things like this in games.
>>386945863
the fuck
Near the end of the game when you enter the part of the temple where you have to collect the statues, if you take two left turns you'll come across a secret room that lets you disable the giant swinging blade traps.
>>386941214
What game is that 64 or Heros
I never played them as a kid and I'm a sucker for rainbow sky levels like that.
>>386945863
Dang anon, thanks for that. That's pretty cool.
>>386945863
nobody in their right mind would jump through a lava-fall
WHAT WERE THEY THINKING?
>>386956423
That's why it's a good secret
>>386949930
>Seamus hits full sprint speed
>>386949930
>Completely useless
It's one of the most important tricks for speedrunning. It allows you to kill Draygon with shine sparks, it allows you to skip ice beam completely, it allows you to skip space jump, it makes like 50% of the rooms much faster in general.
Also, you can hit speedbooster quicker if you tap while you do it at specific times. There's only one frame of Samus's animation that the b button needs to pressed (4 times) in order to get speedbooster going.
You can push a few spike sets in Flying Battery zone in Sonic 3 and Knuckles and there are hidden special rings and shortcuts. Look up a 3&K level map sometime, there's so much random shit you'll have missed.
Best one of the modern era.
>>386948790
I actually knew about this as a kid. Really cool to execute.
>>386943002
HOLY SHIT.
>>386956892
This was obtuse as shit. How did anyone even find it?
Arkham City was better.
>>386940786
Yeah, ok Ariana
>>386957000
>https://www.mariowiki.com/Treasure_Ship
It was revealed on a podcast with the creators.
Then someone on the Eidos forums no clipped in there. Then someone found the legit way in.
>>386956514
the reward is one heart, it's a bad secret
I was replaying gex 3D last year and found a secret hint cube that shows a link to this long defunct URL. I used the wayback archive to take a look at it and it used to host a .zip file full of wallpapers and soundbites. No mirror exists anywhere. The reward part of this secret is quite literally lost forever.
I even tried contacting Crystal Dynamics to see if they could tell me more, but never got a reply. The whole thing makes me feel a little sad.
>>386956423
You should use the lens of truth more often.
Nero Brothers disc 4 sidequest in FF9.
>>386957290
Just checked it out and it's real. Now I want to know what was in those files.
>>386957773
That was literally undiscovered until a couple of years ago, wasn't it?
>>386958171
wasn't so much undiscovered as not popularly known. a lot of people knew about it but never thought it was unknown.
>>386957128
What did you expect? Give you a huge reward for jumping into bone melting lava?
>>386957870
And we'll never find out.
>>386958171
Yeah, as far as I know. I remember triggering a couple of the scenes when I was younger, but who in their right mind would ever put that together?
>>386956754
>It allows you to kill Draygon with shine sparks, it allows you to skip ice beam completely, it allows you to skip space jump, it makes like 50% of the rooms much faster in general.
Goddamn, I learned it when I was doing a no grapple beam run, I didn't know it had all these uses
>>386957310
>You should use the lens of truth more often.
>in a dungeon you have no reason to ever revisit long after you've obtained the lens of truth
>>386948790
No fucking way it was that obtuse; I remember as a kid I'd always leave the hammer brothers alone and wait for them to randomly turn into the ship. What are the numerical odds it gets triggered?
Been looking for what this place is forever and have found exactly nothing, I assume its a pretty big secret
>>386943002
This is actually a fan game, not the real thing. Am I just being trolled?
>>386948791
didn't learn this until I played the Ds version
>>386959325
it's there, bucko.
>>386948791
How is this a secret? It's required for some stars
>>386957020
Man, those were the days lol
