Anyone else think it's a little odd Chaos never shows up till you've done all the allegiance missions? Didn't realise and left my armies down south after the 'final' mission and it asks if you want to be the everchosen.

I'm playing currently VC campaign and I made the mistake of trying to wipe the dwarves out. I didn't realize at the time that I can't occupy their towns so it has become a considerable amount of tedium and waste of time, but I'm too far in to just give up now, I can't really stop until I wipe them out. But it's tedious and reinforcements are incredibly slow. Any tips perhaps? Did I fuck up?

Play Dwarfs, don't play Empire until you git good. Alternatively, if you're true scrub tier, get Chaos DLC and play Chaos with an infantry heavy army. You don't need to manage cities as Chaos and your infantry is the absolute strongest in the game and will wreck anything.

Some people may bitch about Chaos being boring, but they're dumdums, Chaos is fun as fuck as long as you don't awaken too many tribes, though I think they've fixed even that aspect by now.

You actually can by buying the Grim and the Grave DLC only, since it adds regiments of renown. Warhammer DLCs are needed to play the faction they unlock, but the factions got patched into everyone's games to be played against as opponents. So even if you don't own the DLC, you get the full experience of playing the vanilla 4 factions.

For most Factions you start off at war with one neighbor and you can take their Army or Settlement in the first turn, this doesn't apply to Bretonnian Factions or a bunch of subfactions like the Von Carsteins tho.
If you end a turn in friendly territory always recruit until your main army hits full strength and keep fighting.

For Empire you basically never need to stop: You can wipe out the secessionists in the first 5 turns, capture Marienburg (this is important) then Confederate another Empire Faction that is getting bend over by Beastmen / Gobulins / Vampires and fight whatever was killing them. Repeat until Chaos stirs then build up about 3-4 Stacks before Kislev gets wiped out.

To people having plroblems. almost everything can be solved by camping in the corner of the map, optimally with some archers and artillery

Orcs are pretty hard to play if you're just starting because the dwarves can slap your shit quickly if you don't have any armour piecring units and the early armour piercing units are pretty shit since they have low leadership

What I like to do is get friendly with all the orc tribes I can
After taking Iron Rock, I just make peace with Red Fangs and go up north with 2 armies to lay siege on the Dwarves capital
If you're lucky, Bloody Spears already took the other Dwarf towns next to the capital

After taking the capital and securing the area enough, I just head south to deal with the Karak Azul

Don't bother trying to be friendly with Top Knotz
Just wipe them out

Always remember to confederate with any other orc tribe you can, don't bother with any alliance with them though

After securing the south, leave maybe 2 armies there because when Chaos comes into play, a norsca tribe will come from the south and you don't want to leave that area unprotected

I'll just say that I don't play on the harder difficulties and I'm pretty new myself but this works for me

For what land's to take, always try to take all the settlements in a province for the bonus you get for having all of them. You usually would want to be at war with one faction at all times and be actively taking territory from them, unrest only actually is a problem if it hits -100, and most factions have a province bonus to reduce the rate you get per turn while you build happiness buildings.

For factions, those are probably the hardest of the original factions not counting Chaos, especially if you don't know much about mechanics. Orcs I'm guessing you got rushed by the two big dwarf factions at the start of the game, you should try to get peace with the main dwarf faction at the start since their main settlement has a good garrison. Always be at war is especially important for the orcs, always try to maintain I believe it was 17 units and 80 animosity in each army to get a free no upkeep army. Their raiding stance is the best since it heals, raises animosity, gives stat bonuses while you raid.

I personally can't give much advice for the Empire, as It actually probably is the hardest faction to play as in campaign.

Keep in mind difficulty is also depended on your faction because they're not created equal. I haven't played Empire with the latest patch, but until now your game was essentially a random chance of being easy or difficult depending on what everyone else around you was doing and Empire AI basically never survived to end-game.

I agree with this, although i had no idea if this was something that started with TWWH or if it had been there in previous games, the last one i played for more than a couple of turns was Shogun 2.

I really like TW:WH but i was constantly wondering what was up with that, at first i thought those units of renown or whatever were just going to be like a preview of what my entire army would look like once they had upgrades, guess not.

It also annoys me a little that heroes and commanders are on their own, instead of attached to a regiment, and that some of them have way too many skills. It makes sense when the hero or lord is a giant monster, or even when they have a horse or dragons or whatever, but when they are on foot it just looks dumb.

I don't know much about warhammer fantasy but i remember reading a tidbit somewhere in the game that not all dwarves live underground, but even if they did, then isn't one of the dwarves things that they build stuff? Why can't they just build a new underground city in occupied settlements, or if that's too unrealistic or doesn't fit the lore, to me it would still make sense that they would build small settlements.

Well i don't really mind that mechanic too much
