Every enemy that's in DA is in DDON except for Death, Daimon and Grigori (DDON has it's own Daimon and Grigori analogues though) plus extra ones that aren't in DA. The graphics range from identical assets to slightly better/worse in areas (the game suffers heavily from lack of dynamic lighting in terms of shadows though). Some classes are improved, you can't pause combat to chug healing items at your leisure (healing/stamina items are actually banned in top level content so you have to rely on your healers or self sustain augments).

It's really just the world and the atmosphere/immersion that suffers. Oh and the grind of course if you don't like it, it's near warframe-tier grind.

It's purely pve. Microtransactions are for more storage space, QoL stuff (can teleport from anywhere instead of needed to be at a teleport crystal) and pay2gofaster with exp, etc.

You can also purchase celebrity jap voice actors for your pawns.

I feel like there's a significant overlap between the Dragon's Dogma and Dark Souls 2 fanbases seeing as they're both horribly flawed games with a rabid cult following.

the lag is non existent. When playing alone/purely with pawns you're the host so it's no different to playing an offline game. When in a party someone is the host and when in the the field their have a kind of master connection. In terms of delay/getting hit, there is none. You will only ever hit/get hit by things that actually hit you on your screen. The only thing lag will ever do is if the enemies on your screen and the host screen start to become significantly desynced they'll teleport to the position and animation they're in according to the host.

When you examine the mechanics critically Dragon's Dogma looks like a pretty poorly put together game but while playing the feel of the combat and world just makes it work somehow.

It's a game that, looking at it after completion, has a ton of design issues but the initial ride is a lot of fun. You'll probably greentext '>all those buzzwords' at me but I can't think of a better way to explain it.

I love dragons dogma and hate Dark Souls 2

Dragons dogma is a diamond covered in shit, with Dark arisen just being a straight up great stand alone dungeon crawl.

/v/ generally speaking likes it as a collective, but there are plenty of plebs like you who can't see past the glaring problems. I think it's just a matter of what you like in games, the variety of combat strategies and how dynamic enemy fights are allows me to see past the load of issues the game has.

I don't think I've played a game with boss fights as interesting and dynamic as this one.

Can someone please tell me what I do wrong in this game? I'm that rogue class and when those gorilla things come they almost always kill me, I'm near the start of the game. Just beat that underground thing with the tentacles that come from the ground you got to run from, only reason I beat that was because the gorilla died from fall damage.

It's one of those games that don't explain many of its mechanics, yeah. I'd still recommend going in blind. Regardless of what you do, you're going to end up powerful enough to beat the game without the need to grind. If you really want to min-max, you can always just go for a new playthrough since you never get tired of combat in this game.

So how exactly does spell damage scale with Magick Attack stat?

I think the stats are supposed to be pretty simple.

The stats themselves are the base number you have when you have no bonuses/equipment that increase it. So magic damage would be calculated as Magic stat + any magic enhancing buffs/equipment + base damage of the spell multiplied by the elemental weakness of the enemy minus their magic defense.
