What are some games/parts of games that have extremely dreadful, uneasy atmosphere? It doesn't need to be explicitly a horror game.
There were a few for me
>when you get chased by Tubba Blubba in Paper Mario
>Twilight World in Twilight Princess
>Haunted House in Fable
That's all I can think of right now.
All the Fatal Frames kick my ass. I usually have to take breaks. Except for FF4, that was way too tame.
Also, the Monster Oc chase scene from the PS1 spiderman.
MGSV's "voices" level
>misty river, eerily Silent Hills
>did this mission blind, no hud, no vehicle, at night
>the entire building section
>mfw caught myself having second thoughts on entering it for a split second
Yume Nikki is great but most people have heard of it.
Condemned 1 has several levels with great vertical perception and will put you on edge almost all the time.
Alien Isolation is cool, the alien might be too recognizable to be scary but the environments themselves are pretty good.
Silent Hill games are a must.

Fatal Frame 2 and 3 were depressing af.
Return to Castle Wolfenstein Catacombs levels. Those zombie assholes scared the shit out of me when I first played it.

It's a picture from a home lighting company I pulled off from google images, thought it was pretty spooky for such a picture of other intentions
