He really isn't a villain though. He only fucks with you if you summon him or whatever.
Olgierd's the real villain: killed his brother and gave his wife a fate worse than death. I dunno why the game wants you to save him when he's such an asshole.

i think you greatly misunderstood all of heart of stone if you think olgierd is the bad guy. olgierd wanted to marry iris but her family wouldn't allow it because he was 2poor4her. o'dimm "magically appeared" into olgierd's life and offered to solve all of his problems, unknowingly signing over his soul in exchange for all of his financial issues vanishing and the family of iris permitting marriage.

what he didn't know was he was getting a heart of stone, which prevented him from feeling love. he got what he wanted but was unable to love iris like he did before entering the pact with o'dimm. olgierd appears like an asshole through that whole thing because he is unable to feel any other emotions outside of anger and hatred. he is physically incapable of love and empathy. he began practicing the occult to see if he could lift the curse that o'dimm cast on him but it just led to even crazier shit.

olgierd was 100% a victim in that, he didn't know what he was getting in to. he had no way of knowing until it was too late. o'dimm is literally evil incarnate.

also, olgierd killed his brother because that was part of the pact. o'dimm doesn't disclose what the specifics of the pact entail until you commit to it first. olgierd didn't know he was going to have to kill his brother to satisfy o'dimm and get what he wanted out of the pact. o'dimm also doesn't have to be summoned. he appeared to geralt on multiple occasions, all without any summoning. he shows up when he wants to, and he only shows up when he wants to fuck with someone.

as for iris, olgierd had no way of knowing her spirit would be trapped. i don't think anybody but witchers know things like that. he also did not intend to start a house fire. considering how far along he was into being incapable of feeling love by that point in his relationship with iris, he was still human enough to know what he wanted, and that was to lift the curse and return to normal. while he may have been unable to feel love, he was 100% capable of feeling remorse and guilt and I think it's clearly obvious that he felt horrible for what he had done to her over the years and how it all ended.

hence why he spent the next who knows how many years just doing whatever. the man began thriving off of mindless violence because he had nothing else to turn to. hatred, anger, and guilt were the only things he could feel, and anger and hatred were probably much better choices for him to want more of than the guilt of what he had done to his wife.

End of the day Olgierd deserved destruction but robbing O'Dimm of satisfaction is also the best outcome.

he may not be able to repair the damage he did but that doesn't mean he should have to suffer further. a witcher is supposed to kill monsters and o'dimm is exactly that. olgierd was just a puppet and o'dimm was the master. he may have turned olgierd into a monster but i think it's obvious that wouldn't have agreed to the terms if everything was laid out infront of him from the get go, but then o'dimm wouldn't have been able to have his fun fucking with mortals.

Yeah you fight a demon when it comes to curing that one whackjob Tharn in Skyrim. Demons are dangerous but it seems heavily implied that O'Dimm is a devil and somehow on a much higher plane of power.

Olgierd made a selfish deal, because he sold his AND brother's soul. In exchange O'Dimm gave him and Iris immortality. But generally O'Dimm is evil. You don't even need to make a deal, he will find a way to destroy your life if he wants it.
