A lot of gun sound mods, seems like that one as well, use samples with very clear reverb which makes the guns sound completely wrong in most, if not all, situations.
Those are clearly real gun sounds, but the mod maker probably just ripped his sounds from Youtube videos without thinking about anything more than the guns sounding "real" when in reality there's a bit more to it than that.

Unfortunately sound design has taken a back seat for quite some while. The early 3D days were the last time devs put thought into how their games should sound with the addition of a new dimension. RIP A3D
Hopefully VR will bring attention back to the audio aspect of games as discrepancies should be more obvious even to those with less trained ears.
