Literally the only fun I've been able to have in this game for the past 10+ months is griefing in comp by pretending to be fucking garbage average casual shitter and playing rein only holding m1 or a lucio and just wallriding around and for the 2nd half picking tracer or genji and hardcarrying. I've been trying to drop my rating but doing this the lowest I've been able to get is 2.7k because unless I literally throw as tracer my hidden MMR doesn't let me lose more than 15 SR or so per game so I don't know what to do to end up lower without being banned for entire season due to grief reports.

This game is a fucking cartoon shooter with a competitive mode. The problem is people not prioritizing fun over absolute hero requirements. You're basically guaranteed a non cooperative team unless you have 6 people in your party and the people who scream at others to switch because they're playing a hero they want to deserve to be griefed.

I hated the gameplay of D. Va but loved the aesthetic - especially of the Officer skin. Tried to learn D. Va and it never clicked for a long time until randomly coming back one day and pushing far ahead compared to my ability with other characters. Hanzo is second for the same reason then Ana and either Tracer or Genji. Overwatch feels like a very strange game. Something I've never felt comfortable with but have loved here and there.

I know this because I've been attack Torb and just about single-handedly carried the game other than a shield bearing tank and a healer. I got bored with comp so I decided to drop all the way down to the fairytale land of 2000 SR. I grief every other game and I haven't even been banned yet. The worst I've gotten was a mute.
The attention is pretty funny. Sometimes I'm Zenyatta afk staring at a wall and my team still blames the Hanzo picker on fire. Other times, I afk and do nothing at all, we still somehow win.

That's IT. I've been using heroes I find fun (Hanson genji Doomfist McCree and torb, sometimes Zarya and Winston) strictly basedo n who I feel like fucking playing. The only time I fill is when I know I'll be filling in a hero I like. Once you use the heroes you like, the game slowly becomes more enjoyable.

I'm at the point with doomfist where idc whether or not I lose or win, cause he's that much fun. I do my best to win, and win most games, but it's happening cause I'm enjoying myself again.

Doesn't matter if its a different type of game. WoW stole from Diablo hard and OW stole from WoW, its not that far removed. Quake needed teamwork too, but you could still play on your own. Or for that matter OW has a good deal in common with HotS in many ways, and the big complaint people have on that compared to other Dota clones is the hopeless dependence on other morons.

I'm not saying the guy is right, but there is a clear slant in character biases that causes some to raise to nearly be mandatory in many situations while others are almost never worth using.

You can say it doesn't apply or that independence in a team game somehow doesn't fix the problem and you may be right. But the stats don't lie on character usages, 76 is nearly always a good pick while plenty of others are not for instance.

Winston got a buff before his pick rate went up. As did Dva. No he is an easy to play counter to her that keep himself alive. You can two her ass with McCree, but he is harder to use and has far fucking less utility. Unless we are talking old school overpowered sniper McCree. 76 is a swiss army knife that counters Pharah to a degree. There are better options to counter her, but they bring little else to the table.

Funny how Reaper is far more viable in more games now that his self heal isn't random as fuck allowing him to be the tank buster he was designed to be without a healer wedged up his leathery for example.

Yes people had to get use to them being useful. But they had to be useful first.

Mei falls under the issue of Defense characters being busted as fuck in a bad way and nearly always less useful than anyone on attack most of the time. But it does make her highly useful in most anything arcade where many others are not. Same for Roadhog who has been incredibly dominate until being nerfed fairly hard and his heal was a big part of that. And who also is useful in more modes than most and still fairly viable for those not playing him as a one man army.

Bastion is a cheap shot. He has sustain, but he isn't self sufficient because he can't go to his potential without being still. Which means he requires a babysitter tank or healer and does not apply. Sure he heals himself, but he is still super dependent on a choke or a tank shield or a mercy tucked around a corner behind him.

Independent doesn't mean a heal. Genji is high self sustaining because he can run away easily for instance, grab a health pack, and get back into the fight quickly. Its what makes him a good flanker. For all the 'I need healing' memes he really doesn't. Same for Tracer, she can heal herself, but that isn't really want makes her good. Its the whole kit. She can quickly get in and get out and not need a healer to do her function, ie harassing the shit out of healers. Both Genji and Tracer can carry fairly well when done right because they are such a healer nightmare without needing healing, and its because of their mobility.

Or going into healers Ana's sleep and Lucio's speed often had them a better pick than Mercy for a long time because they could get away despite the fact she has a crazy game changing Ult. And when she got a buff to help? Yep you guessed it, it was to keep her alive longer.

The highly played characters are with few exceptions ones that can taker care of themselves

It would've been much better if you could see the enemy's ult charge aswell like in fighting games. It makes the game less random and Mercy's res less infuriating. So many of the game's randonmness would've been resolved if the game was just honest with which characters had ults. It would add a new layer of mind games to the gameplay.

Not really needed. Killcam shows it anyway and if they are doing well and getting kills they've got an Ult. Knowing who charges quick and easy is sort of part of the strategy so slow charging Ults may get the drop on people to be useful for the long wait and quick charge ones like Mercy you should generally assume are up and prioritize as such. Basically if Mercy hasn't just Ult'd, she probably has Ult. It also punishes players for Ult feeding by hitting chip damage into the enemy that healers will just heal and charge up on.

Scoring itself is broken as fuck anyway. Spot damage into an enemy charging there team up while only getting you a tiny bit of Ult will get you a bonus for gold damage, mean while healers typically can only get one or two medals and have a harder time getting scoring for things like being On Fire. Seriously getting On Fire as Mercy is a pain in the asshole and takes way more effort then as a damage dealer. It actively punishes people for playing support in the scoring. But no I don't want more info in the board itself, people need to put the edick away as it is already.

If I play healer:
no protection at all and the tracer and Genji are raping you


I now only play Mercy for the broken sr system to at least not lose my rank. If I play a dps with a bad team I lose 40+++ sr easily (or only get like 10 if I win). With Mercy it is normally just between 10 to 20 sr, but if I win I can get 40+ sr without doing anything special
