The only thing I'm afraid of is that a company called NetDragon just bought up JumpStart and by extension, Neopets, and they seem to exclusively produce MMOs and mobile games. So if they started advertising again, it would probably be because they converted Neopets to be either an MMO or mobile game, especially considering NetDragon said the purchase of JumpStart was mostly to acquire their IPs and relationship with Dreamworks.

I'm not sure what their criteria is for purging, but it does happen. I've seen old ass accounts with one basic pet and nothing else not get purged after being inactive for nearly a decade and other accounts with actual stuff get hit after not playing for 3 years.
I do understand wanting to free up names when there's a ton of good ones sitting in accounts that will most likely never be touched again.
