Not a good game at its core (it's Early Access, that alone should tell you enough), but I've always wanted something like this and I'm impressed by how many familiar characters there are in the sea of literal whos.
I wish it was sprite-based though, the models really don't fit well with characters like The Kid.

This. 06 is only entertaining if you have friends around you so you can get drunk and laugh your ass off. It's on par with Bubsy 3D in terms of quality and I would consider myself a huge Sonic fan. I mean, the Adventure titles aged badly, but 06 plays like a unfinished alpha of Adventure 1.

Sonic 06 is very fun once you learn the quirks of the engine. Its biggest flaw? The loading times and some bland art direction. If the game had Unleasheds art style it would be downright beautiful. But the game has a dismal, melancholy tone to it, you can tell by the moody clouds/sky in some cutscenes, Crisis City, Flame Core, and even in Kingdom Valleys and Aquatic Bases beauty there is still an eerie feeling that there is always peril.

I've never seen anyone else talk about this game, even in the grand strat generals. Its shitty to get to run on new machines, and klugey in the way that all pdox games are, and fuck ugly in the way that all pdox games are, but I think it did some really interesting and cool things and the way that EU4 as well as the grand strat playerbase at large has totally ignored those innovations makes me kind of sad.
