Not so much easier as in difficulty, I meant like easier to play. Smoother controls or quality of life changes, I guess.
It doesn't change anything too drastically, but battles are more fluid and Confidant Skills make managing dungeons easier. The only issue is that in exchange for smooth battles we got clunky tutorial palaces.

P5 is my least favourite Persona game, but if you enjoyed 3 and 4 I'd highly recommend playing it.

None of which are very big changes.
Demon negotiation is just bringing back a removed feature and Guns are just bringing back another damage type that was removed too. Not to mention the fact that guns are very rarely used anyway.
Taking social links places just makes days when you're not ranking up the link less repetitive, but ultimately changes next to nothing.

It's the exact same formula with the same execution, they barely added anything major to the table besides 3D models and Confidant Skills.

Persona 3 was simplified and removed gameplay elements, persona 5 brought them back and added other stuff like social link bonuses (which adds other mechanics like party switchinig) and baton passing, there isn't much they can change, smt games have always had similar combat to a degree and the amount that persona 5 changed is pretty good compared to persona 4.
