Because taking money from retards is (((legal))).
>>
>>386897452
It's not Valve who decided those prices, it was the community. Of course, Valve benefits from the fact that there's expensive stuff like that because it motivates idiots to gamble, but still.
>>
>>386897531
>>386897693
No wrong. That's not why. It's because Valve has gotten very good at parting fools from their money-and there's nothing wrong with that. As long as it's not pay to win, I really don't mind microtransactions.

The problem is that this and Steam are all Valve do now. I no longer believe in Gabe.
>>
>>386897693
>tfw you actually bought into the cult of personality
I feel ashamed and disgusted but i want a developer I cam do that for again. One that releases good games. But theyre all shit now.

SEVEN HUNDRED REAL LIFE DOLLARYDOOS

Too many non Americans with disposable money to spend

The US should have never given the third world money
>>
>>386898251
nah fuck off commie piece of shit
>>
>>386898251
No it isn't. It's proof that there are a lot of plebs out there, and the free market is the only way to separate them from their money while quarantining them to a bad game.
>>
NVM BOYS I'M RETARDED It's ACTUALLY 888 DOLLARYDOOS
>>
Are you not allowed to mod your game with skins anymore? Is that against VAC or something?
>>
Ultimately, there is no someone specifically guilty or innocent in this situation.
I don't want to say Valve were misunderstood angels who thought skins would at most go for cents or so, but players happily embraced and allowed this to flourish.
I mean, obviously there would be less murders if no one manufactured firearms for sale, but it's us who use them for that purpose in the end. Sin lies on both parties in hardly distinguishable proportion, and people lock themselves in endless stalemate trying to blame only one side for shortcomings of both. It's time to accept we all done our part in this and start working on fixing it.

People saying "muh free market", please jump off a bridge.
It doesn't cost anything to put different pixels on a in game model. The prices are set by valve them-self, in a elaborate way by making them rare, and also shilling for those digital items being hot shit.
>>
>>386897452
I thought all the expensive skins were just fronts for russian money laundering
>>

>It doesn't cost anything to put different pixels on a in game model.

It takes effort to come up with and implement a design so wrong.

huh?

If there's a market for it then I don't see a problem.

If the government didn't protect your pleb asses with laws and shit the market would scam the shit out of you nerds.

Free market doesn't work.
>>
>>386900093
Why is that a bad thing? If people wont think for themselves they deserve to be ripped off.
>>
>>386899269
>The prices are set by valve them-self, in a elaborate way by making them rare
Valve knew that rare skins would get expensive because they made them so rare, but they would never be so expensive if there weren't anyone who was willing to pay so much for them. Valve certainly isn't free of blame here, but ultimately the pricing still comes down to the question of how much people are willing to pay for those skins.
>>
>>386900093
Thank God the government is there to take my money and throw my ass in jail for doing drugs or trying to produce milk without permission. You forgot 'FREEDOM IS SLAVERY'.
>>
>>386900214
You wouldn't perhaps think taxation is theft, and that corporations deserve to be applauded for using tax havens, would you?
>>
>>386900214
I wouldn't want a random idiot to produce milk anyway. You would probably make everyone sick.
>>
>>386900417
And yet, small-scale farmers do it all the time. Look up 'supply management'.

>>386900381
Yes and yes I would. We should all be aware of ways to minimize the tax we pay (without going through more hassle than its worth).
>>
>>386897452
you let them get away with it

>>386897452
Artificial scarcity.
If valve gives a piece of shit a small drop rate it's worth a due to weak supply: inb4 HURR PLAYERS CHOOSE THE PRICE yea nah cunt, skins are RATED by Valve and called common, uncommon, rare, etc
If no such classifications were made and no distinction between the digital goods existed apart from how they look like, THEN it would be a free(er) market. But you're still trading digital assets with a Valve-imposed scarcity.

They do. Whenever they pay, they're choosing that price. It's entirely their fault. Valve deserves praise for ripping these idiots off.

Time. Or rather, money.

If you don't like it, don't pay for it. No one's forcing you. Valve has every right to fleece stupid people's money.

lmfao
>>
>>386897452
What's the matter with this exactly? If you don't want the skin then don't buy it. Some people spend hundreds of dollars on tickets to sports events that can be viewed more comfortably at home and which will end in a few hours. Others spend hundreds on pixel paint for a gun that doesn't even affect gameplay.
