The thing about Splatoon is you're not supposed to binge-play it. It will get annoying because of the map rotation meme, short games and lack of content at launch.

Made it to level 18, pretty sick of turf war and haven't really found a weapon that really clicks with me yet. I rode the slosher gravy train weeks before people were bitching about them to 2/3 A- ranks, I reserve my C- hell in rainmaker for trying new weapons/gear.

I really wish the weapon level cap was 20 and you got more choices with each level up, because 30 is looking like a fucking grind. Doesn't help that the content drip-feed has been much slower than the first game so far.

I got to level 25 pretty quickly, although I am also using EXP tickets so it helps speed up stuff. It takes me about a hour and a half on average to get a level, and it only jumps like 2000-3000 required EXP to level up each time.

Range dominates in this game when it comes to kills. If you have decent aim, you could kill pretty much anybody because of the Squelcher's sniper range. Especially in a game where most people run short, close-range weapons, long range weapons are piss easy to get kills with.
That's probably why that anon calls it a crutch, when in reality, every gun in this game is a crutch.

I mostly play salmon run though. Played last night with friends for 5 hours. It's too bad that the rewards past 1200p sucks and that I keep getting sub saver tickets/chunks instead of something useful

Not every gun has long range, but the reason as to why people play those short range weapons is because they are also easy to use. Rollers are 1 hit KO if you know how to use it, Sloshers can spam ink that has no damage fall off, which in turn means getting splatted behind cover. Dualies, while requiring 4 shots to kill, have high fire rate and that dodgeroll meaning they can dance around people and get kills quickly. Practically every gun is a crutch, i didnt even mention blasters

So does Splatoon 2 have the worst randoms out of every shooter in existence? People in turf wars don't bother covering the ground in ink, thus making it impossible to win sometimes. Thats the trade off. .92 Gal 2 shots with medium to close range, Squelcher 4 shots with sniper range.
If you're trying to get close in firefights, you are probably going to lose against any other weapon which is why I say utilizing that range makes most fights easy to end. While the enemy tries to advance towards you, you have that space between that makes getting 4 shots a piece of cake with good aim.
