That's complete horse-shit anon. For over 30 years Mario has regurgitated the same platforming gameplay mechanics since the first game (i.e 'New Super Mario Brothers U and 'Super Mario Maker' are recent examples):

The problem is that SEGA changed the Sonic Franchise's formula too much that its caused divisions in the fanbase between 2D and 3D preferences. That's why both Mania and Forces exist to appease both sides.
