Did you seriously think that fighting games are like FPS or something? This isn't your run-of-the-mill genre where every kid can pick up the game and just instantly kick ass and have fun. If you go online without any experience, you'll instantly get trashed by even the novice players.
It's a genre where you have to invest your time in and eventually achieve the enlightenment of fighting people with equal skill and let the best man win. Even losses feel good when you know you've tried your best,not because by some streak of bad luck you happened to lose by accident.

I would say is the worse entry points for new players, lots of characters that are just on 1 or 2 games, is better focus on Tekken 7, and later play Tekken tag 2 casually (now that Tekken 7 is release nobody plays tag 2), you have an old gen console? You guys can't make a Tekken thread without mentioning SFV, can't you. If it's of such a big importance to you, the fact is that both games sold the same. Tekken is probably selling just a bit faster just because it's on Xbone too.

The stats on steam are the same for both games. Doesn't mean anything good for either title, since it's pretty telling nobody outside of the FGC community is buying fighting games.

It just depends on the venue and sponsorships though because Sony was throwing money around for SF V to play it on PS4 despite PC having massive frame advantage and it can be a lot easier on console as regards moving fast through matches and players getting bitchy about equipment. There was one tournament that experimented with PC for USFIV and discovered a bug thanks to the shitty iBuyPower setups they were given that the game had a slow memory leak which was causing input drops. It only got worse through the day as the equipment overheated as well. So it's not a perfect solution.
