So? That was obvious. Iizuka started tying the game when he realized Mania was getting a huge hype. Started with more old stages, Chemical Zone being mentioned in Forced that that zone was being handled(aka Mania), drop-dash with classic Sonic in forced, end-games in both games in first stage(Eggrobot and Egg Dragoon), the elevator in Mania with different eras plus Green Hill zone again in Forced, all that talk that classic Sonic was from another dimension. To add all of this, 06 director(or whatever) being back and Generations ending, it all ties to this being some time dimension bulllshit trilogy.

For starters, delaying a simultaneous release and adding extra DRM has been proven to kill sales and justify piracy time and time again. Not to mention the executable becomes untouchable modding wise. Then you have the context of this delay, only 4 days until release and not even 24 hours after the whole fucking game got spoiled, they decide to announce the delay on a SURPRISE SPECIAL ANNOUNCEMENT STREAM. Even if it didn't delay, you'd have the whole thing spoiled anyway. But it doesn't end there, they finish it by spitting on everyone's face offering a rom in a subpar emulator that everyone owns, be it from the cheap Sonic bundle, the Sonic Generations pre-order bonus or whatever, as compensation. Not even Taxman's remake everyone, consolefags included, has been waiting for since it was released on phones, no, a fucking rom of the first game no one really likes.

It's not just '06. Sonic Adventure 2 confirms the emeralds control spacetime.

And Sonic 06 not being canon is canon... if that makes sense. The events of the game had to have happened at some point for them eventually not happen. Crisis City appearing in Generations means that '06's timeline does exist in some form. So even though the events of the game ultimately aren't part of the current timeline, any properties the chaos emeralds are established to have would presumably be consistent across timelines.
