Nah. Exploration wise, it was as good as a Gothic game can get and the combat was superior to both G1 and G2 and was pretty much the best in the series. It's only downside is that the third chapter is focused entirely on lizardmen genocide, so it kinda loses its GothiCCness in the very end, but 2/3 of the game are the best Gothic experience ever.
