It looks fantastic imo. They nailed the atmosphere and they even recreated the bleeps-and-bloops soundtrack of the original game a bit.

I like the small added detail in this room, In Metroid 2 and AM2R the spider ball upgrade is just sitting in this crevice for no good reason. In Samus Returns there's a chozo statue in the room, so it implies the upgrade fell and rolled into the crevice.

It amazes me that there are people who don't want Samus Returns because of AM2R. It looks like a completely different game and also the dev team of AM2R is excited for it and encouraged everyone to buy it.

From all the stuff I've read and watched most people say it's unrecognizable from the original aside from the premise of hunting down Metroids.
