That being said I completely agree about UI. Japanese developers tend to have a very hard time understanding what makes a good UI. They tend to give zero thought to what menus you'll need to frequently pull up and while are negligible, they tend to add way too many layers to their menus, they constantly put redundant info on the screen and don't trust the games design do tell you anything itself without the need of extra UI elements. They basically give zero thought to making anything on screen simpler and better looking and just bombard you with every element they think you might need at every given moment.
