What the hell was this guys problem?
>fly through space for god only knows how long
>crash land on a planet with a bunch of retarded monkeys
>have to wait 65 MILLION years to reproduce
>people dig me up and start sucking my hard-earned energy out of me
>some bitch sits on my fucking shoulder
>get off my shoulder, bitch!
>blow up the world
>my kids just putz around on my corpseLavos had a hard life.
Why do people pretend that's Lavos when that's just his spaceship?
Hes just doing what nature intended for him to do. Lavos literally did nothing wrong
>>386847958i was just meme-ing, only 1/3 way through the game myself.

Lavos was written as a metaphor for Reagan-era politics. Funny enough, it works even better as a metaphor for Trump. This is why this game is a classic.

>>386846647
Was it ever implied from someone in-game that Lavos was just a space parasite that might have infected other planets too?
>>386852132
Like >>386850668 said, it's just a space tick that feeds off of other planets and then shoots its seed off into space.Incidentally it shooting its seed is what destroys the planet. /spoiler]
>>386852132
Yes. In fact, that's explicitly stated. Lavos crashes onto the planet, absorbs a bunch of energy and DNA components to reproduce, and one day its babies will do the same thing to other planets. It's stated both when it first crashes, and then is expounded upon in the final battle.
>>386846647
well Lavos was like a Bear attacking a pack of Wolves because it hasn't eaten in weeks and is about to starve
the bear needs to sustain itself, but the wolves don't want to be eaten, same with lavos, he needed to destroy the planet to survive but humans need the planet unharmed
nobody is wrong in this situation
>>386849390
also this

Couldn't he land on a different planet then?

Lavos needs a planet with life, Lavos' biology is never really expanded upon except for the procreation part but I think he may also need, you know things like breathable air, water, etc.
Mars doesn't have any of these things
>>386853401
In the American version it's stated that Lavos controls the evolution of its host planet, cultivating powerful lifeforms to make itself stronger. Note that humans had no magic before Lavos arrived and became very powerful wizards after he arrived. If it landed on mars there would be no lifeforms to evolve/assimilate.
I love giant parasites that wreck shit just because they need to survive
Nothing. Would you condemn a bird for flying? Or a fish for swimming?
Its just a mindless animal.
>>386853648
Magic comes from -12000 Zeal Kingdom. Queen Zeal started to get mad from siphoning energy from Lavos.
Apparently, they had magic in this Kingdom before the siphoning part.
But, then again, like another anon said, since Lavos kind of guided its host planet's evolution, maybe magic as a whole comes from it.
I'm not sure if that's stated in the game. Maybe an anon who recently played it could confirm or refute that.
>>386855302
Did reptites have magic?
>>386855794
That's what I was asking myself, but I can't remember for sure...
I think Azala, the reptite queen had some powers, but I don't remember if it was magic.
All the "proper" magic users, the gurus, made&mune, spekkio, magus, all come from Zeal, though
>>386855794
Azala had
Woke up on the wrong side of the space-time continuum.
>>386855794
nah they were just psychic
Azala attacked with "psychokinesis"
nothing could use magic before Lavos arrived, Spekkio says it hadn't been "invented" yet if you take Ayla to him
chrono trigger serquels are somehow not about lavoses on other planets and getting a space ship and saving different planets (ala times)
how did they fuck up so bad
>>386856228
The sequels seemed more like self contained side stories rather than successors. Not that there's anything wrong with that - I love RD and CC.
Reminder humans only thrived because Lavos crash landed on the planet.
Chrono Trigger has such a fucking good soundtrack

>>386856326
>kills characters from CT offscreen
>self contained
>>386856480
The fact that they're killed offscreen just shows how irrelevant they are to CC.
>>386856331
humans would've been fine if filthy reptites didn't constantly try to eat them.
>>386848810
In a way, a huge amoral being whose sole purpose is destroying everything else so it can thrive while completely ignoring the ecossystem it inhabits is a VERY apt description of the USA as a whole.
why were the magic users such dicks to the surface dwellers anyway?
He wasn't even intelligent enough to have a problem. He was effectively an alien animal whose survival depended on the eradication of a planet.

>>386856843
What the fuck is even Lavos?
His first form is a colossal "shell" that isn't his real body. Inside that is a massive humanoid upper-body - is that controlling the Lavos "shell" like some sort of machine? And when you kill that, you have to fight his "core". So the core is controlling the torso, which is controlling the shell? This shit makes no sense.
>>386848047
He came to the wrong hood.
>>386858242

>>386858242
I don't know, it was fucking weird. The final boss was cool though so I don't care
>>386858242

Was she a Lavos?
>>386858242
Yeah it's kind of retarded, but JRPG tropes demand multiple forms and a succession of final battles for the end of the game.
Was Lavos the progenitor of his race or was he just another spawn that was born when another planet was devoured?
>>386858242
Outer shell is the large tick that draws in those sick ass nutrients. Humanoid body is the control center for everything Lavos does. Core thing is (the secret final boss) the literal mind and...core of Lavos that could theoretically just restart things if not dealt with.
It's like a gigantic fake-out bug.
>>386856843
Wouldn't you? You never watched Mob Psycho 100?
>>386858242
>>386858461
>>386858678
Played the game a few months ago and from what I can tell, the shell is sort of a cocoon that lavos and its offspring hide in until they've gathered enough energy from the planet to mature (or is threatened/has its cocoon destroyed and evolves prematurely). Pretty sure the reason his final form looks humanoid is because that's the main shape of life on the planet it was subsisting off of, or something to that effect.
>>386858610
why she has 1 nip?
>>386859270
I don't see why Lavos would be special.
>>386849428
>>386856227
Even their descendants the draconians didn't have magic the way humans do, they had those elements instead.
>>386859626
Yeah, Lavos wasn't special until it melded with Schala and evolved into something that eats time.
