This. The whole marketing meme shit of difficulty and pro gaming is what ruined the franchise.

The natural defense for not liking increased difficulty is the accusation of being a bad player. Although game design doesn't work that way. You could make every enemy have a one frame window where you could defend from their attacks, but that would obviously be a bad idea. Not because the players are bad, but because it's an unreasonable experience that lends itself to boredom and tedium.

For the same reason, Dark 3 becomes boring and tedious because of the constant aggression and unreasonable attack patterns of enemies. Games need to be somewhat easy most of the time, and spiked with difficulty to remain interesting.

The only people obsessing over difficulty are the e-penis crowd that never think things through. They don't know what they actually want, but they equate making things harder with newer experiences. Which is foolish, but they aren't designers; they're just dumbass consumers.
