Where were you when jewtel got blown the fuck out of the CPU market?

This is a blue board which means that it's for everybody (Safe For Work content only). If you see any adult content, please report it.

I thought that was wow DPS chart for a second

Why even post this on /v/ these retards can't even tell what a Xeon is.

Plus, for their autism FPS Intel 7700K is still the best option.

You know what's the really funny part? Intel's new HEDT stuff actually loses out to the previous generation Broadwell-E chips in some workloads, notably many games.
>>
>>386839840
Holy fuck
when did this happen?
>>
Posts about a cpu that yes is better possibly in work situations but still isnt as good for gaming vs some i7/i9s on /v/............................................
>>
>>386839840
yeah yeah, too bad it doesnt perform this well in games.
Its beaten intel top server CPUs in heavily multithreaded test (probably because it has 16 average cores).
If you try runing games on it then its as fast as a 2 gen older intel.
but i do agree that its because games are unoptimised pices of shit nowdays.
>>
>>386841383
Where the heck have you been the past year
And released Ryzen and have been BTFO of Intlel in multitasking and not gaming work loads
You can buy a Ryzen that will be cheaper and perform similar in games while also doing other things like streaming

AMD is garbage in video games.
A 10 core Intel CPU is already better than a 16 core AMD CPU and Intel will release a 18 core gaming CPU this year.
>>
>>386842214
>muh extra 5 fps
Why would you pay more for a CPU that's worse at everything else?
>>
>>386842214
Anything past 60 is irrelevant.
>>
>>386842460
about 10% (if that) of people on /v/ would be able to buy these anyway.
Stick to the consoles kiddies.

everything still works great on my i3 desu :D

Let me give you a little info about threadripper... You don't need it. This is /v/, a video game board where people play video games. They aren't running Blender, they aren't using this in a production environment that will utilize the full potential of the cores. We play video games and as such it will only matter how games perform by the CPU. Guess what? Threadripper performs just about as well as the Ryzen 1800X because it is just two of them. To even see some use of this CPU would be to do streaming to various sites while also running playback from each and even then it's not designed for it. Intel still reigns supreme for pure FPS in gaming and the benchmarks between Threadripper and Intel prove it. Games still favor higher clocks over more cores and until they change AMD will not trump it in terms of gaming.

That all being said, I had trouble convincing myself not to get a Threadripper just to support AMD for buttfucking Intel with a great CPU to which they do not have an adequate response. AMD wins in temps, power and value, but as I said before, unless you using this in a production machine it will still be a waste of money for you, much like the other i9 CPUs.

tl;dr Price for performance graph is worthless for /v/ because higher FPS is what we want, not per core value that we won't use.

This happens every time until Intel release their new model, then everyone builds their gaming PC with Intel & Nvidia and three months later a major issue becomes apparent, meaning all you try hard show offs in your own bedrooms see fault in what was supposed to be their perfect beast of a PC

Cycle repeats every 2-3 years a pop individually, Intel & AMD roll in hard earned coder/engineer monies. You're being played boys

>>
>>386846141
The difference comes down to platform. X299 is considerably more expensive than X399 (lul).
>>
>>386846235
Not if they can't tone down the power consumption. Those i9s are housefires waiting to happen. It's what happens when you re-brand and overclock server shit for the desktop market.
>>
>>386839840
Is a i9 really that far of a jump up?

>18 core gaming CPU
Chances are it's actually even worse at gaming than Threadripper. The current Skylake-X lineup has pretty titanic thermal issues already, slapping more cores and bingbus mesh on it is going to make it even more horrifying and greatly limit the real life frequency you can reach. Especially if they keep using the chewing gum TIM on it.

what's the point? this is purely /g/ shit even if you were to stream and game at the same time with YouTube videos open it would still be better getting a $600 cheaper 6/8 core CPU

iirc 1600 is ultimately better value, since it's pretty much the same as 1600X, maybe 100-150 mhz lower once both are overclocked
