I mainly have my 3DS for Pokemon, but having basically a second DS is really nice, plus I have the original Castlevania trilogy on the Virtual Console. I'm looking forward to Metroid, and yes, Pokemon USUM as well, but mainly Metroid. I've wanted a new 2D Metroid for years and now I'm finally going to get one, even though I go away for a few days basically as soon as it comes out, but at least it's other fun holiday stuff stopping me from playing it immediately rather than boring shit.

I pretty much haven't organised my home screen at all honestly. I mainly use it for cart games, so there's little reason for me most of the time to use anything else.

I mean it's entirely understandable that your medabot ignores the fuck out of your commands for the first hour of gameplay but even when it started to obey me the combat still felt kind of bad. I also didn't really like the part system, especially how it works midcombat.

EO is a love it or hate it affair. Try the demo of EOIV before assuming you'll love PQ2 because it's Persona.

PQ is VASTLY easier than any EO game and is in a perpetual story mode.
EO itself is generally based around drawing your own map while making your way around a series of mazes. You usually make your own party of characters and choose from some portraits in this style. Untold games are remakes and have story modes with preset party members and an overarching plot that involves them.
From what I've seen, people generally recommend EO4 as a starting point due to it being somewhat easier but not PQ easy. EO4 is also a stellar game in general that I highly recommend, and it's on sale quite often in the eshop.
There are demos of Untold 1, Untold 2, and 4 on the eshop, so try those out. Try 4's first though.

And it's pretty different compared to the rest of the series, I didn't like all of the changes made from Medarot 8. Have you played any of the other Medarot games? Sounds like you might just not like the series in general.

It takes a while to learn, it can get very complex at times and Medarot 9 just kind of throws you in without really explaining the mechanics.

It's the best time to do so, the console is late in life and has a big library to boot, plus the DS BC.
If you're a buyfag, the eshop has everything and stores carry a huge library for it.
If you're a piratefag, they have most things figured out on /hbg/.
The 3D effect is pretty and after the 3DS it will be gone forever, so might as well. It also uses an autobrightener and slightly sharpens the visuals, even on minimum.

That will only really take you so far in the Medarot franchise. It actually has a lot of depth to it and some amount of luck. You won't beat some of the bosses without actual planning and picking the right parts.

You CAN brute-force with grinding or getting lucky with head-shots but you can brute force most JRPGs, that doesn't mean no thinking is involved.

You could simply switch main screen or place map in front of your eyes while trying to draw with touchscreen. It doesnt really need two screens at once.

And I always considered EO being love letter for dungeon crawlers in general so I wouldnt actually miss map drawing.

Not him but I enjoyed SM more purely because of the Pokemon. XY didn't have anything new I wanted to actually use. SM was probably one of my favorite "first version" games ever.
XY has good online though, make sure to use it before it dies out completely. It's the strongest feature the game has compared to the rather weak singleplayer.

I don't mind the cutscenes, there aren't actually that many compared to what I used to see in JRPGs. It is a lot for Pokemon though.
I didn't enjoy XY's singleplayer at all (too many gift Pokemon and the friends rubbed me the wrong way), but the online was stellar. Snagged several legit event Pokemon off people and got lots of Friend Safari shit to fuck around for shinies in. The only thing I missed from the gen before it was negotiations. Nothing has topped the online though. I love SM about as much as BW (given that it's a first version with good bug types and has another coming out) and especially the new sublegends and bugs, but the online is terrible.

I didnt play Elminage Gothic (whats wrong with this game by the way? I have it on GOG but didnt play yet) but Stranger is hard, grindy and risky. Risky because there are no revival items (some very rare and not restocking items can prevent death with 1hp left but they are too valuable) so every dead party member have to be carried to town for curing and during creation when you setup age, your characters get either 3 or 1 "hearts" - one vanish with each ressurection and if they reach 0, character is gone for good. Late game is pretty much designed around rotating classes for useful skills, buffing/debuffing and you frequently run away from fights instead of taking part because if your dudes have around level 10 and you meet some level 20 monsters, you are in big trouble (and every dungeon have at least one enemy designed for fucking you up).

Personally, XY has my favorite batch of new Pokemon. I give SM credit for having more in-depth backgrounds for them even if pure visual design it's probably my least favorite overall. I would also say SM made in-game enemy teams somewhat tougher, but it's Pokemon, so it's still very easy.

XY's Pokemon didn't really feel terribly memorable to me though, it feels like they wasted the new type on a bunch of very bland designs and the relatively small amount of new Pokemon coming out of gen 5's massive clump was overshadowed by Mega Evos. I can't say XY is my least favorite though, given how good the online is, but I generally perceived SM to be better in most aspects (for my own personal playthrough) save for its terrible online features. In particular I appreciated that they strayed a tad from traditional design conventions with the Ultra Beasts and utilized more of the Pokemon in niches that felt more organic in game, such as Mareanie only appearing upon hearing the cry of an injured prey animal, or adult Pangoro appearing to help a young Pancham in danger.

It does get good. Early and later in the game the -drome type enemies (velocidrome, gendrome etc) will always be predictable as fuck and pretty much always use their respective attack. In fact, in every grand area there is always monsters who you can easily figure out what they'll do. (Herbivores will pretty much always use power, the bugs and rolling shitters will use tech, the dromes use speed). The big boy monsters are the ones who give the combat an actual challenge as they mix up their patterns with 2-3 different skills as well as mix between one of the three attack colors. This can lead to some dangerous mindgames until you figure out their exact pattern and if their skill resets their pattern or not. Collecting monsters has another purpose as you pretty much gene-splice your monsters to make a super big baddie out of one, so there's a lot of customization you can do to make your party unique.

Actually I got it mixed up with another theme for the game that was bundled with it, the one I use was sold on its own and in a bundle with three others on the theme shop. It's the "Gurumin Heroes" theme.

I like the game, it's not Falcom's best but it's still pretty good. It's best on PC obviously but if you have a N3DS it runs better than the old PSP version did.

None, although I wish I had a physical copy of EO4 and ACNL. Too hard to find now though for EO4 and the eshop one was cheaper, and ACNL was free from CN.
I generally don't use digital for games with irreplaceable save data if I can though, like Pokemon. ACNL is the only exception.

Ringabel is probably the laziest localized character ive seen in a while. NoA have zero idea how to do that trope.

Other than that I feel like the games too easy, even after disabling random encounters sometime when i just want to get the last chests from the dungeons and go to the boss. I guess hard was the way to go.

Brave breaks a lot of the game when i can just cast the same spell 4 times on the entire enemy party. The different classes are cool though.

Hes' the "girl obsessed hentai". The friend of the protag who constantly make remarks about girls, hits on them, and makes lewd comments.
But literally 3/4ths of his dialogue is a bad and predictable joke around it. He has the least amount of depth I've ever seen. And to make matters worse hes also the amnesiac.
