Nintendo fans out of pure desperation will religiously glorify 3 or 4 Nintendo games and will be so obnoxiously loud about their fanboyism that normies will actually remember the Switch being a good console but will be unable to tell you exactly why or be able to name more than 2 games. Basically N64 vs PS1 all over again.

PS4 will be remebered as the true king on par with the PS2, the highest selling console with the best games and nothing like that of the now forgotten dispoable garbage that is the wii console, the false prophet in which Nintendo fans only use to reference and cite sales and never it's non existant library of games.

I think it will be remembered fondly in general. Personally, I hope that Switch performs well enough to be a role model for other platforms going forward. The awful "MUH POLYGONS" arms race that Sony and Xbox are desperate to have with PC is killing the industry in many ways, so I'd love for Switch to be the system that shakes up that mentality and shifts the focus back to quality games and unique, versatile hardware.

Unnecessary generation released as a matter of sheer obligation. The PS3 & X360 could've easily kept going for a good 3, 4, even 5 years more.
The complete lack of games, not to speak of new triple-A IPs, reflects on the stagnant nature of the industry (and western pop-culture in general).
The PC market remains looming large, with the 'indie' scene continuously growing and parts of it morphing into a new and exciting double-A market. Unfortunately, it is still stuck with the terrible DRM behemoth known as Steam.

Switch is like 2 generations above those. It is the major innovation of video games

N64 had a ridiculously high ratio of memorable games to shovelware. 3 turoks, perfect dark, golden eye, OoT, Majora's mask,fuckin armorines, Conker's bad fur day, banjo kazooie, Glover, starfox, Mario 64, Mario kart, had two of the best wrestling games, Pokemon stadium/snap. There's more than that too. I can kinda agree that ps1 had the edge, because ALOT of my all-time favorites are one there but there's a legit argument. When that happens, making games becomes more of an investment, and guess what happens next?
