Why is gog.com so good?
>>
>>386824305
No DRM
No shitty frontend you have to use
Can install on you and your friends computer so you can play together without having to buy two copies
Good retro game library
>>
>>386824305
Because Eastern Europe got rid of their Jewish problem a long time ago.
>>
>>386824684
How is the game library? Is it expanding? I know gog has a relatively small amount of vidya
>>
Because you are a cheap fuck who never paid for a thing in his life
>>
>>386824847
The website's name is "Good Old Games." Go there for old games, not the new, hot releases. However, if said hot release shows up there, get it there.
>>
>>386824305
Good games with no DRM, but the navigation on the site is absolutely horrible.
>>
>>386825374
>no DRM
But I already play DRM Free games on Steam.

What makes the GoG Client so special?
>>

I'm torn on where to buy The Witcher 3
>>
Because CeeDee Project.
>>
>>386825539
IIRC, since CDPR owns GoG, you can buy it on Steam and use the steamcode to get it on GoG.
>>
because it makes it easier for me to pirate games

>>386825539
That was the deal offered for Witcher 1 and 2. I don't know if 3 has the same.
>>
>>386825539
>buying this singleplayer RPG directly from the developers or a 3rd party DRM client*

hard choice

*CDPR releases are all DRM free even on steam
>>
>>386825590
cool, is it on sale regularly or do i need to wait until christmas sale? or go through cdkeys?
>>
>>386825486
I don't think anyone uses their client, do they? the reason you buy stuff on GOG is so that you don't have to install, use or worry about anything else.
>>
>>386825245
>The website's name is "Good Old Games."

No it's not. They changed to GOG years ago after they started offering new games.
>>
>>386824793
>Because Eastern Europe got rid of their Jewish problem a long time ago.
This.Remember the Polish death camps.
>>
>>386824305
>Why is gog.com so good?
no DRM
optional client
better customer service
better community
>>
>>386825486
I remember the insomnia sale too. Good times.
>>
>customer service
I am not so sure about that. When you want to refund a game you have to go through the painful procedure of proving to the support that the game doesn't work on your machine.

They used to be, but they are almost just one more shop without nothing special.

They sold all their ideas as lack of regional pricing, complete games - the greediest thing they did was with greediest company known as paradox, gog is selling 10 or more years old EU3 "complete edition" but if you scroll down you will see there are still dlcs for that complete edition.
Some games are outdated by months, waiting for new patches takes a lot in general, many of their games are inferior than steam versions by lacking linux/mac builds or other things, just look for armello
And they keep those inferior and buggy versions, the also sell broken scam garbage like GSB2 for example, while they reject some good games like Mushihimesama for being "too niche"
>>
GOG is only good for piracy
Why the fuck would I buy from GOG when Steam is still the king? Most people haven't heard of GOG. If buying from GOG gives me a DRM-free game why not just fucking pirate it? I get the same content
>>
I appreciate their business model and modern installer for ancient games. I hope they stick around, as a lot of these old games could become hard to find someday.

I also really like that their third party launcher is completely optional. I wish Steam did something similar.

GOG usually has sales every week with ranging from 50% to 80% off games. Preoders usually come with with a free game or some other goodies.

>pic related
Expect cold steel, these games I brought each for under $10 - $15 each when on special.
>>
>>386830346
The fact still remains that these games are damn easy to pirate. If I were to buy them I'd buy them on Steam. Yes, GOG is cheap, but if I was poor I sure as hell wouldn't buy video games
>>
>>386829848
>If buying from GOG gives me a DRM-free game why not just fucking pirate it?
Are you saying you buy games because you want to get the DRM?
>>
>>386830617
I buy games if it's really damn good (after pirating Civ V I bought it), I want to support the developers (Danganronpa on PC) or if it's multiplayer

I'd rather do this on Steam than no-name GOG
>>
>DRM-Free
But I already play DRM free games on Steam.

What makes the GoG client so special?
>>
>>386830820
LOL
>>
>no achievements, trading cards, profile backgrounds

this is why your shitty service is dead
>>
>>386830465
True. With DRM free games piracy is the downside of GOG's business model but personally I still will buy off GOG. Steam games are still DRM locked.

You're seriously complaining about GoG when Steam is way worse in this regard?

Vampire the Masquerade is flat out unplayable on Steam.

>>386830731
>I'd rather do this on Steam than no-name GOG

So you want to support the worse service because you prefer not to think?

You're the kind of dumb fuck that marketing actually works on. The one that would buy a shit brand over a better one simply because he saw the marketing for the former on TV.

A really hard choice indeed.

I've rebought games on GoG that I already had on Steam because the GoG versions work right out of the box (Jedi Knight/Mysteries of the Sith and Vampire: The Masquerade - Bloodlines).

GoG also had all the Infinity Engine games before Beamdog re-released them (Icewind Dale was always playable). Sometimes GoG just straight-up gives games away for free: they had Fallout 1 and 2 for awhile and, when they lost the license, just released them for free (they've since re-obtained the license and are selling them again). And, finally: Blood.

I've only been getting games you cant get on Steam (or couldn't get at the time)

Is Rogue Squadron better on gog?

On an unrelated note, is there an alternative way to play Age of Empires 2 on a modern computer without the Steam """HD""" version?

So does Steam, though.

They give away games occasionally. Outside of that, there's no real reason to use it. They have older games, but most of the "classics" are also on Steam. More importantly, the games cost more and are usually just pirated copies being sold back to you. At that point, why not just pirate the games yourself?

I don't understand the reasoning of people who DON'T buy of GOG because it's DRM free so they buy and steam and say "If I bought it on gog, I could have easily pirated it."
So why not pirate it in the first place?

It's the stupiediest shit I ever read.

Because they're small.

They have to appear to kindness. If they were to get big like Valve or Blizzard or whatever big business, all of their good ideals will be conveniently and quietly discarded, and their good image will only remain as a lingering illusion to the long-time fanboys suffering from Stockholm syndrome.

Buy game.
Download game.
Play game.

That's it. No installing a client, no connecting to the internet, no passwords or system updates required every time you log in. You can do whatever the fuck you want with your game. Also, less modern AAA garbage, ironically.

GOG also has some form of quality control, so no Greenlight garbage and no anime VN porn games.
>>
>>386830820
GoG has ready to install packages with all the dependencies bundled in, easy to store on a hard drive or a usb key so you can pass it to friends, plus those Drm free games are the exception to that fact that you don't own your games and merely rent them to gaben.
