Too many assets and story elements were re-used.

Part of that made the series good and satisfying was the discovery. But when you keep seeing the same old shit it just feels lazy and cheap.

2 and 3 have very different problems but they're comparable to me.

BB, Demon and Dark are all equally wonderful experiences that manage to do different things, and I look forward to From making more standalone titles rather than successive sequels that are creatively hamstrung.

Probably because it's derivative and uninspired.

To my mind, it's actually a pretty solid game overall - certainly better than the shitshow that was DS2 - but I have no inclination to play it. DS3 is just sort of "there," with FromSoft intent on beating a dead horse for all it's worth. It's a game that I neither needed nor wanted.

I don't hate it, by any means, but then I don't particularly enjoy it either. It's an unnecessary rehash of things we've seen before, and frankly, I just don't care enough to conjure up strong feelings one way or the other.

Midir is pretty bad.
He's a dragon and you can't cut off his tail. All of his attacks are easily dodged and are only mildly hard to read and he only ever chains 2 patterns into each other. He gives you adequate guaranteed and fixed safe time to heal and attack between patterns. Only challenge is derived from doing all of this over the course of one giant health bar.

Super uninspired. This is the game that they made when they knew they wanted to get this contract over with but didn't want it to be a total flop so they didn't invest any effort into it beyond not having anything be obviously wrong with it or obviously missing after a surface level inspection.
