It felt weird. The camera angles were new to me and it took some time to get used to. I did get stuck a lot of times but it was mostly because when picking up an important item you had to examine it to get another important item like a key which made me feel dumb when I finally figured it out. Having to burn zombies to prevent them from coming back was interesting. Backtracking a lot felt like a chore. Overall I liked it. Finished with Jill and couldn't get the best ending since Barry died while I was fighting the Tyrant. I didn't save the game for a while so I just said fuck it and continued.

the original RE games are all about memory and item management.
I could play all 3 without having to look at the map, know where enemies are, know what to pick up and what to leave.
So very little backtracking once you learn the games. Which you need to learn for the best scores and bonuses.
To get the best score you need to complete them in 3 hours, with less than 3 saves and no first aid sprays.
idk about REmake as I only played it once on the GC but it had new content so they probably boosted the time to 3:30 or 4 hours. Go for that, or play Zero.

Don't hold your breath on REmake 2. It'll likely be more first person shit to add to the pile, with unskippable cutscenes, dull voice acting, characters that look as bland as Mia and Zoe, and the final Mr X fight will probably be him slowly walking towards you and you shoot him 5 times to kill him.

Not trying to bait. I'm 30 and grew up on RE + Dino Crisis. Hell, I even liked Survivor. I fucking loathed 4, but can appreciate it as an excellent action game.

It's unfortunate that it singlehandedly killed the franchise.

I recently started playing it myself, it feels weird but I like it. Although I've never played it that much but plan to later I can see why people say 4 ruined the series.
I was kinda stuck early on, after running around for a while I couldn't find anything I just started to mash X as I walked up the staircase in the entrance hall.
When the door opened and it was the coolest fucking feeling but I was also a little pissed at myself for not noticing it.
Because of this amazing feeling of discovery I'm going to avoid being a guide-reader as much as possible, but I am worried some surprise shit is going to kill me later on and I'm going to be really angry.

The second boss fight involves Rebecca getting captured, so load up Billy with weapons.
But, around the middle, you lose Billy, you'll be at a rail cart you have to go on, just after you use the hookshot to go up through a hole in the floor.

Don't worry about the ink ribbons they'll just pile up if you choose to explore every room and collect items. Just make sure you don't save so much, only save when you feel you have made a good amount of progress and have collected important items.

I'm 22 and the only exposure to RE I had was my brother playing 4 and 5 but I bought REmake on steam when it released and now I've consumed every classic survival horror title and consider it my favorite genre

It's pretty godawful. The dual-character thing is tedious as is item management with a complete lack of storage chests. The character design is shitty, Billy is forgettable, the villain looks like something from Nomura-era Final Fantasy. The plot either retcons or invalidates most of the things you do and see in the original RE (and REmake), and makes Rebecca's action in the first game suddenly incompetent and out of character.

It's pretty but you can safely skip it. Even Code Veronica has a more respectable plot.

What's the best way to play RE2 right now?
I don't have much stock in REmake 2 coming out any time soon.

Was thinking of buying all of the Resident Evil series for the PS4. So far I have Origins Collection which has REZero and REmake. Waiting on RE2 and RE3 remakes. I'll buy 4 eventually(Again for the 3rd? time), I actually liked 5 so I'm definitely getting that too. Is 6 and 7 worth it or should I just forget about those? What about the spin offs?

6's campaign is crap, but the actual combat is surprisingly fun, and much like 5 anything is fun if you play it with a friend. Only get it if you want to play mercenaries. 7 is okay. It's more or less what you would expect, a modern game masquerading as a classic RE game. A good effort, but has nothing on the actual older games. First hour it's a walking sin, and last third just feels like they did an even cheaper and less enjoyable RE: Revelations.

I'm not mad, you just have demonstrably bad taste. REmake is about as close to a perfect game as you can get.

Not much, I do think the Castle and the island go against it in terms of pacing and overall fun and I was never a fan of the QTEs. Me preferring REmake to RE4 doesn't mean I dislike it, just overall I find REmake to be the much better package because like I said I really can't think of anything wrong with it outside of some nitpicks.

Can anybody answer me this

Im reading that you dont have the second tyrant fight on the helipad (the final boss fight) if you do not save barry/rebecca during your playthrough, since the self destruct sequence is never activated in this case.

But I seem to recall that you actually could activate the self destruct system yourself and still have the tyrant fight on the helipad? can anyone tell me if im correct on this?
