Someone making a Candy Crush ripoff or anything similar makes sense to get hit with the lawsuit, but having some completely unrelated product with a completely different gameplay style get forced to pay them cash just because Candy was one of the words in their game's title isn't.

It's still something that shouldn't be able to be filed to begin with. It puts a big hold over smaller guys that don't even want to risk it and have to remove stuff like "Red" from their product's name because some asshole decided to copyright it. There's an entire community of people just trademarking words and ideas so they can hit people with lawsuits for free cash. Granted most of them get fixed, but some of them don't and it's a problem that needs to be looked into. It's kind of like the whole what falls under a crime BS that was once up for debate when it came to stealing expensive MMO accounts or things similar years ago. There are old rules that need to be reworked every decade or so, so that loopholes aren't created when new tech is made and allows for it.
