All hitmonchan does is punch. Mewtwo can already do elemental punches. Machamp punches the absolute shit out of stuff and has command grabs. No, the game has a distinct mechanic called phase shift. So you either fight in a 3D arena space fairly similar to the the Naruto games, but once you get up close it shifts into a 2D phase that is more like a traditional street fighter style game.
