i play Summoner Wars. you got transactions, packs and such but the game is extremely f2p-friendly. in fact i'd say save for some special packs it's straight up not worth using money on it as all it'll save you is time and it doesn't guarantee good mons.

at least one event ongoing at all times, story missions give you great awakened monsters you'll use for a long time (and that had to be farmed for before the updates), scrolls are reasonably easy to come by and so are crystals, and it only gets easier as you progress. there's pvp but it's optional.

if you do play, a tip:get friends and mentors asap, they help a lot with scenario stuff. keep all fusion-marked monsters, you might regret using them as food later on. keep any devilmon you get for later.

I'm probably the only one who'll say it, but Sword art online memory defrag is pretty good. You can earn the game currency for the gacha through just playing the game, and you earn it pretty fast too, you need 250 for some of the gacha's and earn 5 of the currency units per S-rank. You can hammer out about ten quests in like ten minutes, and theirs no AP limits or anything like that.
There's also realtime Co-op for harder quests which you usually do for gear and stuff.

This is not a game. It's a money grabbing algorithm with silly graphics attached to it. There's no real strategy or skill in it they choose your win ratio using the matchmaking algorithm and decide when you win and lose based on how much you grind / pay them.

There are always the people who want to have the best everything in a game, and sometimes those people are insane enough to choose a gacha mobage for it. I've heard these people make up an extremely small percentage of the total playerbase, but if they're spending thousands of dollars each on a F2P game every month, then that's probably all it needs to be successful.

The games I've played also seem to include some form of PvP (or at least competition with other players in some capacity, even if it's not direct), so that would be another factor motivating people to spend money for the chance at getting better stuff.

These are the only three games I would even think about recommending to someone. Dokkan Battle is fun and you can realistically never pay a cent. Android users also have access to mods. Love Live is just a rhythm game but any game that features my waifu so good in my book. That last one is surprisingly decent. Again there are more. Your average person who spends money on microtransactions will only spend $5, but there are more than enough whales spending hundreds to make it extremely profitable. Usuallly they cap out at $5000 maximum on average. And "playing the game normally" doesn't mean min-maxing the free resources the devs throw at you, because these games are designed and balanced to entice you to spend money on them.

But it is now, and it uses many of the same systems that gachashit gets railed on for, the biggest differences notably being trading (which to my knowledge has been done in a few shitty no-name mobile games) and not having any weapons behind a paywall (this is a big one, it'd be like having no limited units in a gacha game, but Valve's worked around this with skins).
However, drops are still random, and opening crates to get whatever hat/unusual you want is literally RNG on par with the worst gachashit rates if you're going for Unusuals.

Mannconomy literally just encourages people to spend money on the game in the form of, you guessed it, microtransactions. For mere cents on the dollar you can get a shitty Strange, but don't forget to give Valve their transaction shekels in the process. FF: Record Keeper. Brave Exvius was too grindy and I didn't like how all the good heroes have a drop rate of like 0.5%. FFRK is a lot of fun, has a lot of content and updates every Thursday, and is pretty fair with it's drops. The multiplayer is pretty neat too. It almost feels like an MMO raid.
