I've been playing on the Anathema vanilla server. It's pretty comfy. Population hovers right around 1000 with a pretty even split between Horde and Alliance. There's enough people so that you can get shit done, but not so many that it feels overcrowded.

I cherish those memories and friends I made during that time, even if I don't know any of them anymore. I played legacy, and I was able to re-create that experience and make new friends, and I cherish those too.

But I have long accepted that my time has gone. I'm old now. I've changed, the game has changed. The people that played it have changed, the industry has changed. They don't make these kinds of games anymore.

And still...when I log into my alt on Elysium and roam around the Barrens, and hear some poor Russian trying to ask in broken English, were Mankirk's wife is...I cannot help but smile. There's just something fucking magical about that experience that still holds up 10 years later.

I stopped playing for 3 months and went back. It took 2 hours of playing to get sick of it again. Sick of Dalaran and Suramar, fucking purple everywhere. World Quests and completely linear artifact grind. No reason to level up alts because need to go through same fucking tedium as with my main.

I enjoy Diablo 3 lot more than WoW. They should probably add more quests to Diablo 3 instead. But anyway I'm done with Blizzard.

No one should be subbed to WoW at the moment. Legion is a botched expansion thanks to the terrible implementation of legendaries and artifacts. These two things combined make class balance of the utmost importance, and Blizzard shit the bed hard on it and do not have the talent nor the manpower to fix it. They realize this and all are now just looking ahead towards the next expansion, where they can start from a clean slate.

A few things I have to say
>Legendarys and Artifact weapons
the entirety of legion and all of it's content is based around AP, Legendarys and Titanforging. Without these features, the Legion expansion has absolutely zero form of player retention. They have removed features or alternative reasons to have people play their game other than literally forcing them to play without holding their raid spot hostage. The times of this game have passed where players logged in to play alts for fun, do out of raid activities such as PVP, Challenge Modes, Role playing if you're a faggot, and generally just playing the game outside of raids because you actually WANTED to.
M+ was implemented pretty well (although it didn't fill my speedrunning gotta go fast craving that Challenge modes previously did), and it gave gear that was sometimes better than current tier mythic at the beginning of the expac. However with the recent changes to Mythic+ scaling, there is little to no reason to run Mythic+ other than for the weekly chest. The gear isn't good enough to be worth farming other than the Arcway/CoS pieces like the 5% dmg ring, and 2 set pieces. The AP payout isn't worth it anymore either. This is another motivator that was ruined by the devs.
As for class balance, I completely agree with you. They reworked and pruned all the classes so that they had "less knobs to tune." Ironically this expansion has the worst class balance out of all of them, with the bottom quarter of DPS classes not even being viable for Mythic Progression, and in the best cases, an extreme liability.
Playing Legion is a fucking headache and the next expansion is going to be even worse.
