Definitely not the boring offline MMO with subpar A-1Pictures-tier character design you posted. I actually got my Jrpg fill from Q1 alone, so I'm good for the rest of the year, it was waaaaay too much to handle, although I'm still getting NinoKuni2 and will replay P5 maybe in November.
Other than that I'm waiting for DQ11, OctopathTraveller, 13Sentinels:AegisRim and SMT HD (this one is probably a 2019 game at best though) as well as Project Re:Fantasy, the one I'm most looking forward to but it's a 2020+ release.

Just bought Tales of the Abyss for 3DS because Berseria blew my fucking balls off and got me into the Tales series, it was either this or Zesteria and THPS3 for the same price, and I heard Zesteria sucked & felt this was more rare.
I'm getting excited for Xenoblade 2, but the character art direction and the decision to simplify the artes pallete do get me a tad worried. If I can scrounge up some spare change, I'm thinking of nabbing Chrono Trigger before the Wii Shop eventually dies, and then FF6 if I don't snag a SNES Mini, but I'd rather just grab Castlevania WiiWare instead since 6 got mad ports and GBA seems to be raved about. Considering trying out Dragon Quest and picking up some old Ultima games after I'm done with what's on my plate now.

I literally just started, and I haven't really hit combat yet, but being on a handheld rather than on PS2 will probably get me to play more than I've been doing with Xillia. I started the series at Berseria on a friend's reccomendation of 2017 vidya to buy, so I've pretty much been spoiled by fully-voiced skits and free-range combat, but I'm looking forward to what Abyss can offer me.

I know it is more action that it is rpg, but I've been playing through Odin Sphere Leifthrasir. I'm very interested in seeing what their newest game is actually going to be about. I feel like in the last two years they've only released a 30 second trailer and said very little about it. Which is surprising because usually Vanillaware is pretty fast on production

Tales of Symphonia: Dawn of the New World

To be honest it's not worth it. I magically managed to go further than I did with Tales of Symphonia but it's still not very good. Actually I can't seem to find one Tales games before Zestiria that I enjoyed with how clunky the 2d movement style ones are. I couldn't even finish Berseria after buying it at full price due to Velvet's party getting too boring and predictable and combat being stale on top of every dungeon making me even more outleved and underequipped because I wasn't participating in enough monster encounters.

You can emulate Frontier or (less comfy and way more annoying with some big difficulty spikes) Tides of Destiny on Dolphin and just your PC properly.

Dolphin is pretty amazing at emulating things too. Didn't really have a single bit of trouble with those.

You can do the same with DS titles but DS graphics will stay DS graphics even when upscaled.

Vesperia was one I really wanted to grab, but all my 360 controllers bit the dust under my little bro's care, so the console's been collecting dust in an orange crate in my room cause I'm too much a cheap bastard to buy new controllers and nobody really comes to visit & play Halo anymore.
I'm actually pretty upset Bamco's April Fools gag was Vesperia PS3 Edition on PS4, I'm a sucker for those director's cut editions of games, and it wouldn't feel the same just playing Vesperia without all the new content the Japs got a hold of. Just finished up P5 and needing something to play on my upcoming three week trip. If you can load an NES or SNES emulator onto an iPhone, I'd recommend the dragon quest series. Specifically 5 as it has a light story but is a great intro to DQ. If you want grind play 1 or 3.

Earlier this year after going heavy on an RPG binge (Finished FFXV and Persona 5 in three weeks total...) I was burned out and wanted to try something new, so I picked up the Kingdom Hearts series which I hadn't really played outside of Chain of Memories back on the GBA

Thus far I've beaten KH1, Re:CoM, 358/2 Days, and I'm on KH2 right now. I'm going all the way to 0.2.

Replaying Cold Steel 1 on PC. Probably gonna replay FC and SC of TitS now that they added the turbo button and probably move on to 3rd and Zero. Also plan on tackling the first three DQ games at some point.

According to an anon on here, it's like Skies of Arcadia.
Legend of Legacy is kind of awkward in how it appeals. I love it, but what the game is trying to appeal to is SaGa fans. However, it is not big enough or hard enough to satisfy them. But on the other hand, it's way too hard and obtuse for casual players, which turns away people combined with the minimal story. Despite being one of my favorite games of all time, I would not recommend it and you'd probably be better off just playing something else. There is a demo that is a good representation of gameplay if you choose though.

I started Valkyrie Profile 1 on PSX, but the shit voice acting is kind of detracting from the whole thing. Guess I should probably switch over to the PSP version.

Technically not my first time, but the last time I played it was years ago on a laptop rather than a proper handheld and I didn't get past the twins, which is coincidentally the part I just beat.

I love it, from the style to the gameplay to the writing. Pratty is a 10/10 character design too, 2's character designs are kind of meh in comparison. I never got too far into 2 either, that's coming up after I clear 1. While I agree that weapon durability not recharging after battles is a good gameplay decision in 2, it's going to be a little painful after 1.

I've got Rasho as my partner. On my original playthrough I had the little robot guy, but I never liked his design and how he could only talk in symbols. I could've gone with Sugar's yuri route, but Rasho is a bro so I've stuck with him. I'm planning on taking Y-Xe-LD in 2.

Overall, really enjoying it, cooking curry with Sakuro is the best dumb fetch quest. The game has infinite charm and really nice spritework.

It is, although the combat is pretty bog-standard JRPG so on that front I'm sort of just slogging through it to enjoy the rest of the game.

I also wish that your party weren't all silent protagonists, but I guess it does at least allow for the party mixing and matching mechanic.

Yeah, Sugar and Pratty's yuri hijinks are fun, but Rasho's route also has its charm. Speaking of routes, it always annoyed me that you had to replay the game so many times to get all possible conversations with all the characters, I love the game but I find systems like this annoying.

Code Vein looks incredibly lame to me. The animations are limp as fuck and have zero sense of weight to them, and the art style is both visually ugly and looks like somebody thought that Tokyo Ghoul was the coolest anime ever.

A lot of it seems unnecessary or done poorly especially since none of it seems that complex. The high school setting filled with cliched character archetypes and the fact that all the stuff going on in the background seems way more important and interesting than what is happening to these group of young high school kids really hurts it in my eyes. Add in that the game provides no answers at all to anything: devil trigger, Celine and Emma, steel maiden, etc. and it just comes across as infuriating. I wouldn't have minded as much if the game could could stand on it's own but it doesn't. It's part of a series and the game does everything it can to remind the player of that.

Still, this game has me by the balls because not many mech games.

Same, particularly since the character options start rapidly piling up.

I'm shamelessly using save states in order to see all of the conversations. I won't cheat for the rest of the game, but that's too many conversations I don't want to miss.

zodiac age is a quick platinum. took me like 65 hours and i spent a good chunk of time fucking around. the fast forward options make traversal a breeze and in the end makes farming real painless.
