Been a while since I took physics 101, but as far as I understand, the main reason falling is uncomfortable is because you're accelerating. Constant motion doesn't feel like anything, just the acceleration up to it, in that brief moment while the contents of your stomach isn't moving at the same speed as the rest of your body.
