Why would I need nostalgia to enjoy such titles as Metal Gear Solid, Resident Evil 2, Final Fantasy 7, Tekken 3, Vagrant Story, Lemmings 3D, etc.

PS1 had a lot of amazing titles, both first party and multiplatform.

in the NES you have to code in assembly, that isn't easy but making assets and music requires nothing outside of the console so maybe that is the only advantage
the Dreamcast has a big homebrew scene because it has no locking against pirated games so you can run your homebrew game on a vainilla dreamcast unlike other CD based consoles.
