The physics are different. Also instead of having lives there's a stage select and you just restart a level when you die. I think there's a classic mode but I haven't tried it yet.
Overall it's a lot easier imo.

There's a survival mode where you start from the beginning with limited lives, like the games before it. It even colour codes on your map which stages you've cleared via that means.

And also OP, only the 3DS localization was named that. Steam/Vita use the Japanese name.

It's alright, you have a stage select now but you can unlock the classic mode after getting to one ending, overall is fine if you want more Umihara, my only gripe with it is that it sends you back to the stage select screen after dying instead of restarting intermediately.
