The original Operation Flashpoint have some really fun campaigns.

Oh alright. Haven't player Resistance in ages, and it sure isn't pretty, but I remember the campaign being very cool with the RPG elements sprinkled in like gathering weapons for upcoming missions etc.

I don't think there are that many big realistic shooters available. If you'd like something smaller. Swat 3 and 4 as well as Rainbow Six Raven Shield are definitely worth checking out. They're pretty old though. Only Swat 4 was released in your given timeframe.

Also what about the Brothers in Arms games? Hidden and Dangerous 2 is also excellent but also quite old. If you don't care that much about it being realistic, I guess you could go with the CoD MW and Battlefield 3 campaigns.

I recommend the first 2 Brothers in Arms with Rendrocs warzone mod on realistic.

its pretty hard to to beat arma or opfor games for what you're looking for. maybe swat 3 or 4 or the classic rainbow six games before they turned into counterstrike clones. if you're willing to bed realism a bit the stalker series with mods are a lot of fun.

Arma 2 has a nice campaign, plus it's editor allows for tons of singleplayer missions and it has tons of custom campaigns/missions.

I've spent like 300 hours on arma's singleplayer alone.

Arma 2 has tons of single player custom campaigns. One comes to mind where you play as a partisan then join up with NATO forces a few missions in to fuck up the invading ruskies.
