Personally I enjoy competition, its fun to me to find out if I'm better than other people. Not everyone has this same mindset, and that's okay. it has a good premise and potential to be fun as fuck, but there are two current major issues off the top of my head that detract from it:

>Massive desync; you can sneak up to someone, magdump shotgun shells into his head, and he'll just turn around and shiv you while remaining unscathed

>They boosted AI difficulty (they are present no matter what, and serve as a third faction in multiplayer) to Aimbot Terminator levels

Past these problems is a very polished and fun game. Oh, they're also out of alpha and in closed beta currently, not that it really means anything.

The amount of desync in the game in unbearble. you can only hit someone if it stay at least 10 seconds still on your aim, if not, you have to spray the mother fucker and hope that 2 or 3 bullets hit him, it is enough to kill even with lv 3 armor.

Check those amazing light maps. They're everywhere in the game, along with floating trees and clipping furnitures.

If I had to state an educated opinion:

It's not bad because it's actually 'bad' and it isn't bad because it's 'popular'; it's bad because the popularity it has isn't warranted based on or given the quality it currently represents.

Playersunkown Battlegrounds is first and foremost a streamer game: the community is and was built by streamers and has become a game where there's more people SPECTATING than actually playing the fucking thing. The streaming community is also fucking bullshit because once they get their hooks into something it's the streamers that get the support, not the players, so it's bad.

The other issue with Playersunknown Battlegrounds is, that, it really isn't a remarkable game? It isn't made well, it doesn't run well, it's bare bones, and reminds me heavily of a bare minimum gary's-mod game that basically got completely out of hand or otherwise took on a life of it's own with it's own game. What I find funny about this, though, is that PB is just a lesser-effort "The Culling", and I can only imagine (after looking at their steam page) that people aren't playing The Culling is because the developers ruined the game and alienated the community (which, ultimately, should be treated as KING when you've got a game that relies literally on ones online community).

So, yeah, that's all I basically have to say about PG.
It's not bad, it just isn't good and is only popular because >streaming and because the other alternatives are OLD, WORSE, or the community has just shifted- too many people have jump ship, etc.
