These have the most basic aspects of young adult fantasy fiction.

The most obvious is that the setting is where everybody has a defined role, but there is so much variability to that. It appeals to teenagers, gives them a sense of purposeful belonging while also allowing them to assert their own identity.

People will gravitate to active fan communities. It's why Touhou et al. has always been so popular with doujinka and pixiv artists.

Not that anon, but I don't see why it would be difficult as long as you are trying to make the character human and realistic. Humans are not without flaw realistically so I personally feel like these are natural things that would occur but I understand to some degree when you fall inlove with a character you want them to be the best at everything especially if it's a self-insert or more personal to you. I basically do the same thing. I have to, or else I really will waste time, as even if the fic has a concept I like, chances are it's just not gonna be there if it's that short. Though brevity can be done right, just look at the best poetry, most people just don't know how to have interpretation make up for the brevity or have it suit a thematic purpose.

I think this can be done very well too, hell, I love dialogue-centric stories because without narration, what is unsaid in the dialogue can be just as important as what was said, and what was said can have double, triple, even quadruple meanings behind it, and have a thematic connection to the rest of the story, whether it be directly or through the context, no matter how mundane the line might be. Human discourse is where I think the beauty of the ambiguities of language can really shine. Of course, it has to be done right, but if anything, I'm more inclined to read a story if it's dialogue-centric rather than less, as from my experience, most fanfic narrations lack style, nuance, or context to the character and his/her experiences and history, and most of it I just skim through in order to get to the dialogue, as more often than not it's at least a little bit better, and I don't miss anything from the themes for the most part. This doesn't include yandere fics, as I love acting out the internal narration no matter how cliche it might be.

Archive of Our Own has better fanfiction because they have more quality control, but it's smaller due to that. Wattpad has an insane amount of fanfic but the site's unintuitive and has a disgusting UI, so it's hard to find the good (or bad) stuff.

Fanfiction dot net remains the patrician choice for autism connoisseurs, because it's large and has a low enough bar for QC that some real doozies get posted, but not so labyrinthine that you can't find them.

you mentioned can definitely plague those stories, as the dialogue at its worst can be utterly purposeless, or be completely unsubtle about its purpose with no thematic justification for being unsubtle, as if the characters are talking to you instead of to each other, or they talk to each other but the exchange is meant to explain the plot and themes to you in an untactful way, like the story is catered to you instead of to itself
