Will VR ever get to the level of immersion as depicted here?
Yes but unless you are super underagebanned you'll almost certainly be dead before we get there
>>386728802
Shit like this will exist within 25 years
>>386728664
Prolly in the really far future.
But VR now is just a shit gimmick that'll hopefully die in a couple years. It's just motion controls but now you've a screen stuck to your face so you can look even more retarded swinging your arms like a blindman.
No, because those realistic VR style settings require a massive environment to run around in to feel realistic at all. You'd need a football field sized game-room to enjoy it immersively whatsoever. Also you'd have to deal with loading screens once you reached the end of the map. Grand scale VR will always be a hassle because there is never enough room to simulate a realistic environment.

>hopefully die in a couple years.
Why does VR bug people so much?
>>386729127
but dood what if its like the matrix and you just put a usb port into your brain
>>386729279
Having to purchase extra gimmicks in order to play games... it also means every tom dick and hairy jew will try to bring their games into the VR market if it succeeds, and normal games will die. We will all be forced to buy shitty VR headsets to play newer games.
>I Wanna Be The Guy HD Remastered VR never
>>386729127
Or one of those omni directional treadmills.
>>386729373
Not totally unrealistic, really far off though. Brain is made up of electrical impulses, there is already technology out there that utilises that. More we learn about the brain, the more something like that is possible.
>>386728664
Highly doubt it, you'd be using ar before vr to get that kind of immersion first. Then at that point, why even use vr
>>386728664
MMI tech is necessary to disconnect VR space from meat space. As long as a physical analogue is necessary to translate movement, VR cannot expand beyond "reasonable" spaces of 20-30 ft tops.
When you start intercepting nervous signals for input and hijacking sense data for output is the earliest you can manage "sim" VR. At that point, space is unlimited, and timescale may be mutable.
It requires a few breakthroughs in tech and/or a few fallthroughs in ethics, but there is no doubt that it is possible; It simply remains impractical or unethical with current equipment.
What are some games that feature The Guy?

>>386730851
Is he /ourguy/?
this movie was so fucking stupid holy shit I loved it.
>>386729429
What a sad fantasy world you live in.
>>386728664
I think we're pretty close to something similar, all we need is for the vr headsets to read our brain inputs to move freely without depending on irl space.
We've still got a long way to go to feel your waifu's hand though
>>386731185
>mlg pro player
>wears flashy, shitty gear with no protection
>fucking dies from environment
Literally /OurMovie/ /OurGuy/

Why did Sword Art Online rip off this movie so blatantly?

>>386728664
>mfw the beta testers were actually betas irl
>This movie has 3 sequels
What the actual fuck. i remember watching the first one at a mates house and we hated it. Watched bad boys instead.
>>386730054
>>386730851
So was he really The Guy, or just another impostor? Was there any Guy in the first place? Or was it an illusion of false hope for people to believe in?
>>386733619
He had 99 lives, he was most likely The Guy. Maybe it was an illusion made by the bad guy to disillusion the heroes, who knows. We're talking about a movie that jumped the shark in 2 and then kept going, not of it makes real sense. They had actual flying pigs for gods sake
>>386728664
maybe in 30 years
>>386733410
That's pretty funny.
When will VR have a catchy 90s theme song?

A full body experience would take a lot of work and never be flawless. Like pic related could allow to lay down on a hill but you wouldn't feel the grass/sand under you, unless there's some haptic thing all over. Add to that the other senses like smell.
And as much as the Matrix fanboys wank to the idea of plugging their nervous systems to a computer, there are risks on many levels. Crashes may be devastating and you'd always worry that malicious software or even legit companies are playing with your brain chemistry to get what they want.
I'd say VR isn't perfect but it's still better than sitting on a chair in front of a screen and a row of buttons.

>Machete
I beg your pardon?

God that makes it 1000x funnier with context.
What was their problem?
>>386735263
Naysayers. They don't want anybody having VR fun.

It's here

>He's not at least eighty-six years old
Get out, kiddo.
Even if VR was a fully immersive experience, like in the Matrix, it wouldn't work unless no physical movement was required such as >>386736365
People are too fat or just lazy. No one wants to work for shit. At best, it will become a niche like Wii Sports.
>>386736662
Why did you make them British?
