28 here as well. It's not that I'm too old for JRPGs, it's just that job, GF, sports, social events all take so much time that AT BEST I have like 2 hours to play a day on average. So when 90 hours game took 10 days when teenager, it now takes 50+ days.

Thought I'd have more time on summer vacation to play through games, but one out of 3 weeks gone and barely gotten through bayonetta 2.

31 here. I'm married and employed, but it isn't that stuff that keeps me from playing. A game just has to hook me in order for me to get me to invest a significant chunk of time. Darkest Dungeon has done it. Xenoblade Chronicles X has done it. The first NieR did it. But yeah, there are a lot of games I'll play like 50-90% of the way through, and just put it down. I'm almost positive that I've actually beaten Persona 5, as I beat the politician in December, but I just can't be assed to finish off the game, so I've moved on to other shit.

I think my playthrough clocked in at around 100 hours, and considering my first P4G playthrough took me 60 hours, I honestly think that P5 is way too long for its own good, and the part where it really kinda dawns on you is the entirety of the Hawaii/Okumura arc. Unsurprisingly, it's also when the game takes dips the lowest in quality, considering how badly/needlessly tacked on Haru feels in general.

I actually think the fact that this game being on consoles and not a handheld like the Vita hurt it in a different way. With console games, I often get fatigued far faster with certain types of games, JRPGs especially, which is why I've always preferred playing overly long games on handhelds.

Frankly, I would have been perfectly fine if the number of dungeons had been cut to at least five or so. Eight dungeons (Counting Mementos) is way too fucking much, and the game ends up just wasting your time for the most part. The Palaces had a lot of cool concepts that were ultimately left unexplored, and game mechanics like finding a route to the treasure, as well as the security system, are basically leftovers from what the game used to be.

I feel you OP. I dropped the game at the exact same point you're at. The story started to drag and the repetitiveness/lack of payoff from your social links just put me off the game entirely.

You won't miss much by watching the ending on Youtube. I did and I'm glad I didn't sink another 50 hours into the game if that "true ending" is all I was going to get.

I'm pretty much at the end game of a lot of different games. Disk 4 of FF8, inside the hole in the earth of FF7, past the black dragon in Chrono Cross, resurrected Chrono in Chrono Trigger, team reassembled in FF6, and that's just the somewhat recent stuff.

It's not that I hate any of the games, it's just that I've felt I've given them a real honest try, and wasn't hooked.
