Valve doesn't give a shit what a vocal minority on the internet thinks anymore. They won't validate you with a response. They're going to shit out this cashgrab and make fuck tons of money doing it. They'll go back to thinking up more cash grabs and ways of giving less of a shit about you.

Oh wait that didn't happen because cuckfucks on the internet are literally worthless and that CoD game sold the usual millions of copies with no change.

Even Dotards don't like the idea.

>Heathstone clone? If i wanted that shit i would just play Hearthstone - Nobody in 2017 gives a shit about that
>I will just keep playing Dota - I don't care about other games

i don't think anyone really expects any of these to get a sequel at this point but it's been 4 years since Valve released a game despite the fact that they pull in millions and millions and millions of dollars from Steam and could easily make any game they wanted. I know all of the creative people from valve are all but gone but it's still a slap in the face to their old fanbase that stuck with them throughout the years and made Steam so huge.

It's vaporware. Part of why Valve doesn't release games is because there is no management. People get ideas and then shelve them because nobody will take the reigns and actually make something come to fruition. Gabe gave Valve employees complete job security and no boss to report to in exchange for sticking with the company in good faith.

Are people mad because a new game from Valve after all these years was a card game and not HL3, L4D3 or whatever or people geniunely think this is going to be a horrible game and find it uninteresting?

It seems like it's going to be a fun game desu. Also reminder that all the dislikes are the ones who kept saying that they don't care about HL3 anymore and lost all their hope a long time ago and now are apperently disappointed and mad about something they don't care about.

Are you joking? The sales were so poor that they eventually released a stand alone version of Modern Warfare, which was also overpriced, so everyone avoided it.

GameStop had a trade in deal where you could get a standalone copy of Infinite Warfare for $1 with popular trade-ins. Activision knows something needs to change, because Battlefield 1 was constantly outselling them.

You mean vocal majority, but yes, otherwise it's correct. They're listening to statistics and analysts.

Take a look at dota 2. They were throwing the whole game under the bus, just to get the League of Legends players on board. Doesn't matter how badly you piss off older players, because you suckers keep playing anyway in hopes that somehow your 2k hours and 5000 in skins aren't invalidated.

Other companies do this and even better. Take GoG for example. You have 30 days money back guarantee. You could seriously buy a game, beat it and then ask for a refund and they will give you your money back.

yeah, I understand but GoG only releases DRM-free games
the problem in the refund world is devs/publishers, who wants the biggest walls possible

other than the refunds, Valve is sleeping on the microtransactions market
I agree on that 100%
>>
>>386731884
It's a game that get it's content/lore from another existing game, everyone who is interested in Dota won't find anything new in there, just all of it slapped on cards.

That's not even it. It's because making another fucking card game is an incredibly unoriginal thing. There are so many fucking card games already, and Valve is hopping on the train, because there's money in it. If it would've been a TF3, a L4D3, a Portal 3, a new CS or a new title that does something that hasn't been done to death in the last years, people would've liked it. It's just a lazy cash grab.

>>
>>386732027
Yeah and unless you can go Dagon on Meepo, because the card game works differently than the actual game, you'll be making same builds with same heroes like in the actual game, just with less action.
>>
>>386732024
Dota has more concurrent users than WoW so it might as well be called an MMO.
>>
>>386731998
>There must be a catch to this, otherwise they would make 0 profit.

There is no catch. Even if some people abuse it most people don't. Others just straight up pirate GoG versions of games without buying the game first.
Most people that buy a product on GoG to not ask for refunds. The entire thing about GoG is they live and die on good faith. This is why they don't have any DRM and have their Fair Price Package to offset the regional pricing (if a game is more expensive in your region you get credit in the GoG store you can use for your next purchase).

Because Valve makes so much money and has some of the most famous IPs in the videogame industry, goes for years without making games and then comes out with a cash grab card game.
People expected more, not necessarily a sequel to hl2, but something better than that.

I think main problem is that they just said "Yeah we are making dota card game". This is so fucking broad we can't even start imagining what it can be. Since Valve did nothing particularly riveting in last years, people default to negative expectation, that is "Hearthstone clone with hats on".
Honestly, I think Valve decided to ride negative wave this time, since I can't believe they didn't expect outrage/negativity. I mean, it's all fun and jokes, but we are talking about one of largest corporations out there. There is absolutely no way they'd just do something retarded without planning ahead.

Okay, you don't seem to understand the point I'm making here.
It's not that Valve is making a card game is a problem. It's that after years of fucking nothing, a card game is all they made. The same thing happened with Federation Force, after years with no game releases, a game is finally released but it's something that nobody asked for and it's essentially a spit in the face since Valve obviously knew what their fans wanted but they gave them shit anyway

Because Battlefield made something refreshing by changing the skins to WW1 uniforms.
First people wanted WW2 again but then oldfags complained, so people just took the one that was before.
Then DICE just delivered while CoD went into space.

People obviously have no idea about history but it doesn't matter because now we're shooting each other off camels :^)

That was enough to make all the casuals go all sour with the series? Weird. Especially since Battlefield is just as tired and boring as CoD these days.

Considering how Valve invented PC gaming itself, nothing will happen and they'll make a ton of money off Artifact because they have never made anything bad before. So this gamergate-ish retardation will all play the game when it comes out when they're out of their crybaby stage.
>>
Some you guys are so fucking stupid and dont understand Valve has been building playerbase instead of diluting and splitting them into L4D5, Portal 8, CSGOGO

Theres no point in making anymore games, single player fps games die off quickly and rely on content updates to keep it going, MP games will last forever if the playerbase is massive

Valve know what they are doing and you dont

No, it's not the same, you stupid baby.

Nintendo is making games all the time while Valve only made Half-Life and just hired modders/teams who made popular Half-Life mods and later on started to distribute games starting through Steam but still work on their games.
They just made less games, focused more on their multiplayer games that bring mad dosh, sure their other popular games didn't get any new games but they never made a big fuzz about anniversaries or some shit like that. They also chose DotA2 because the gameplay was probably inspired by it and also not to spit into the faces of fans from their other IPs.
HL card game would've been insulting.

Nintendo on the other hand was celebrating franchises left and right with games, remakes or whatever but completely ignored Metroid which had an awful game released before it went on hiatus.
Then they gave Metroid to some mediocre devs who made a boring, slow version of RocketLeague, slapped the name Metroid on it while working on another boring game which was underwhelming at best and made the RocketLeague clone the final boss.

If you have to use the FF analogy (as a cheap rhetoric), we're at the BlastBall announcement.

>20k of 500k (or 4%) of a population is not a very big sample size

You are clearly statistically illiterate. Many pharmaceutical studies use sample sizes in the hundreds to extrapolate effects for populations in the order of millions or billions, and they achieve very accurate results. The only potential confounding factor here is if there's some sort of difference in trends between people with and without an account, but there is no evidence for this so it's safe to assume the people who voted are a random sample.

The problem is that even if, and this is just in theory, people stopped playing CS:GO and Dota2 suddenly, valve would still make an absolute fortune from everything else steam related.
Don't forget that for every single transaction that happens on steam, Valve takes a fair bit, making them practically immune due to the fact of how big Steam is as a platform.

I'm talking about shit like https://community.callofduty.com/t5/Activision-Support/Exceeded-Limit-of-670-Weapon-Assets-game-breaking-bug-in-COD-AW/td-p/10087156

even bf4 in it's launch state got eventually fixed (and so much post-support money dumped into it to not tank the franchise that it affect later games), good luck with that in a COD game that has a bigger issues down the line.

why the fuck does valve even need money
they've got no shareholders, gaben owns a majority of the company and he's richer than the president (who himself is famous for being rich), if steam was a country it would have higher GDPs than the bottom 30 nations, so what's the point in their existence? What does gabe do with all that money? Why the fuck wouldn't you make video games, you could do literally ANY FUCKING GROSSLY OVERBUDGETED GAME YOU COULD IMAGINE AND STILL TURN A PROFIT AT THE END OF THE YEAR

>>386740521
>not even a single swastika
blame ass-backwards governments and activision being cheap. an extra SKU which has to be rated on top costs a good chunk of money, a different texture does not.

>That means you can be a frontline black riflewoman for the "not"zi's. Fucking absurd.
source, because for now all we know is "females in MP" (which isn't anything new in COD either), not the setup or implementation. who cares if some resistance hobos fight LE EVIL GERMANS?

besides, activision is ALWAYS about money first and foremost, this is literal pandering for brownie points unlike dice which actually believes this shit (no surprise considering where their studio is).

consider how valve operates, there would need to be enough demand from valve staff for X in the first place, then how it can work. it doubt it's less about profits, more like "IF we do something it has to pay for itself and then some with no effort from our side in case we rather do something else"

It's like 50/50
I'm pretty sure everyone I know who plays Dota WILL give it a try including me, perhaps play it for a day or 2.
It also helps people that are not used to Dota to get into it as well, learning hero names and abilities, etc. And of course people who may not have played Dota and will probably never play it might give it a go cause it's a new game.
>>
Why are people so upset about this? Valve's been dead for years now. Portal 2 was their swan song, it's been nothing but shit since then.

Especially the people begging for HL3. That dream's been a lost cause for a long time now. I know it's hard to let go but it's been so long that I figured everyone got past the grieving process.

The only thing that bothers me about crap Artifact is the arrogance of the teaser. Valve is so far up it's own ass that it thinks showing a 30 second logo with the words "Data 2 card game" underneath is going to make anyone excited. Should've shown some gameplay or paired it with something people actually want. Like more of the source engine games or w/e.

As much as I hate card games and think this is a lazy jew move by Valve, they could not have picked a worse fanbase to try and market that game to.

DotA players are all obnoxious contrarian kids with a massive inferiority complex. For the first few months the game was out all they did was shitpost about another game instead of talk about their own. Plus it would always be the same shallow arguments too about one game being "harder", in reality that just meant the barrier to entry is higher.
