There's no saving.
The industry seems to learn with the mistakes of the most successful games and reproduce those mistakes to the absolute perfection when not making it even worse, while ignoring completely the good things about the games.
NEW GAME for example have the DEFECT1 of OLD GAME 3, DEFECT5 of OLD GAME 4 and DEFECT 12,15 and 20 of OLD GAME 2, but the FEATURE 2? they're too lazy to implement that.
