Switching Stance during a ki pulse thing? It's easy, once you have the muscle memory for it it's really simple. Where you'd normally just press R1 to ki pulse as the bar fills up, press R1+whichever button to swap to a different stance simultaneously.

So I'm running around with an Iga Geared Kusarigama build that has to stun lock and drain Ki before I take one hit and get fucked.

Jutsu makes tough things a cakewalk though. Every boss goes down to Sloth -> Blind -> High Attack till Ki is broken -> High Attack till Sloth runs out -> Spam fire shuriken and kunai till Ki is broken -> Win

I finally got back to it.
I quit during the "water" level at the docks where you had to light the torches.
Man that boss was tedious but the fire masks helped a lot.
I'm lvling Heart, Body and Spirit equally and just enough magic to summon my spirit.
Using mainly 1kat and spear for the variation.

I'm loving the spirits. They were the main reason I'm still hype. Living weapon is so much fun

Do spears have ANY good ki damage attacks? If I can get a knockdown in I can cheese with spearfall and yokai are no problem, but any guard-crazy human/revenant are a pain in the ass.

You might want to make use of spirit stones or Leeching Talismas + Carnage so that you maximize damage with living weapon. Also forging Amrita Earned onto all your armor pieces helps you stay in Living Weapon longer. If you go into Living Weapon when your health is like sub 30% (the bar turns red) then your Living Weapon becomes a lot stronger.

Don't worry about it really until you get into NG+, for the first playthrough you can use just anything. Note the Tenacity stat on your Guardian Spirits, the higher that is, the better it gets when you activate it as your health is low. Also a tip is that Leeching Talismans lower your life pretty quickly and in return give you big damage, but while you're in Living Weapon you effectively take no damage from it and you get the damage bonus anyway. And if you fear getting hurt with low health when you come out of living weapon, you can still use Elixirs to heal while it's going.

If you want to put Amrita Earned on your gear just use the Reforging option at the Blacksmith.

If you use axes or katanas, maybe. It's hard to mix in other sets since the stamina bonus is a 7 piece bonus. I get the feeling that its usefulness will fall off when you can start rolling scaling affixes on your gear.

Beat the game around launch and loved it, but never bothered with NG+ and all the DLC. I'm not sure if I should just pick up where I left off or just start a new game entirely with all the new shit. From what I've read, some of the new content is only accessible after beating NG+ once? If that's the case I'll just start from there

The only thing you get is new NG+ difficulties with the DLCs, everything else is in the base game, except Ethereal-rarity loot, that only comes in on the 4th difficulty which you get with the second DLC.

It's good at laying down pressure and doing ki damage but it's not the best for anything that has any kind of hyperarmor. It has tons of cool moves, but almost none of them are very useful or do much damage, unfortuneately. I bet they'll rebalance it a little bit because it's basically useless beyond Way of the Strong unless you do that one guy's Devastator build where you gun tonfa bosses to death in a single blow.

If you haven't already happen to stumble onto one, get a yasakani magatama(-1 to any set bonus requirements, does not stack with itself) to open your options up a bit more. What you want to mix and match after that depends mostly on your playstyle and weapon preferences but as long as the other set is a set with a weapon you should at least be able to hit a 3 set bonus with it even if you want to keep the full "God of war looks down" set bonus

I will never understand what the fuck they were thinking while designing this weapon type. I mean, if you don't bother include specials for low stance, you could at least give it some fun combos to compensate but no, fuck you.

The only use I can find for it is that it's somehow incredibly easy to pull off The Shrike parry and then do a sign of the cross, sign of the cross, etc into downed human bosses. Like it's the best weapon for doing small burst damage if you're trying to play really defensively like a Souls game where you run around in circles dodging things for twenty minutes, get your one hit of burst damage in, then back out and continue. It's been the best weapon for me so far for doing big damage in double boss fights like the Two Kings: Nioh and stuff like that. Other than that mid stance is the only good stance in it and it's too boring for anything else.
