There were only ever a few models. There were a white model and a black model featuring Mario plates that came out for Black Friday last year for $100. There was also the Animal Crossing Pop-Tart N3DS. There might have been one or two normal colors other than those.

Well idk about what they said, but you can still scalp it later. Special Edition 3DS models still fetch quite a pretty penny, even the not as rare ones.
The Hyrule N3DS XL sells for almost $500 if it's unopened (opened not so much but eh). It stayed on EB/GS shelves for months before finally selling out. The Fates one is also pretty pricey.

Australia and New Zealand got them a month after both models released in Japan for some reason, Europe got them too. It just got a much more limited run in North America.

Over there it's roughly $250 NZD before AC adapter though the ends would be different anyway and after GST, the same price as a N2DS XL which is effectively replacing it. It's not going to be cheap, and will be region locked to PAL games unless you hack it.
